Reproductive habits of fat fish in the Three Gorges area
The fat fish in the Three Gorges is a typical migratory fish in the Yangtze River, commonly known as Yangtze carp, Jiangtuan and Feitou. Yichang section of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River is the main spawning ground for longicorn beetles. Nature endows Yichang with unique natural conditions, making it the cradle and origin of China longicorn beetles. It also constitutes two unique phenomena in local fisheries: fish must store a lot of fat for energy consumption in gonad development and reproduction before spawning. In particular, the fat content of long snooker fish is higher than that of ordinary fish. When they migrated to Yichang River, their body fat content reached the highest point, and all of them were fat. In addition, the long snooker fish is different from other freshwater fish, especially fat and tender, so Yichang people call it "fat fish" and are proud of it.
