Blood deficiency in traditional Chinese medicine is similar to the deficiency of red blood cells and hemoglobin, which is characterized by sallow complexion, pale nails, shortness of breath and fatigue, palpitation, yellow hair, dizziness and light menstrual flow. There are no symptoms in the early stage of leukopenia, and in severe cases, shortness of breath, fatigue, diarrhea, abdominal distension, etc., similar to qi deficiency in traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine is used to replenish qi and blood, which is slower but more lasting than western medicine, and generally has few ups and downs. The combination of traditional Chinese and western medicine is better than single method in correcting anemia.
Commonly used traditional Chinese medicines for enriching blood include angelica, codonopsis pilosula, prepared rehmannia root, white spoon, longan pulp, donkey-hide gelatin, antler glue and so on.
Attention should be paid to foods with high protein, vitamin B and vitamin C and diets rich in iron. Beneficial fruits are apples, jujubes, lychees and bananas. In addition, eat more black fungus, mushrooms, black beans, sesame seeds and other foods, which is also conducive to nourishing blood.
