Why do many old people like to pick up garbage?
A very interesting phenomenon has been discovered recently. The trash can in the corridor is often tossed by several old people in a building. They live in a high-end residential area and their children are rich, but the old people in their family still fall in love with picking up garbage. Why is this? It's been bothering me. Later, through chatting with some old people, I discovered the hobby of these rich old people picking up garbage.

Uncle A, a retired teacher, has a son who works in a Fortune 500 company and lives in Beijing.

According to Zhang's family and himself, young people can't understand that it is a pleasure for the old man to pick up bottles. Although I know that I don't have much money, I have a strong sense of accomplishment and exercise after picking up a lot of things. Money can't buy this back.

People have different concerns. Those bottles won't attract your attention, but for those old people who scrimp and save, they will form the habit of using waste for many years. Those bottles will attract his attention. If you don't pick them up, you will feel very uncomfortable and can't remember them. Only by picking it up can the pressure be released.

Therefore, it is not self-esteem, but thinking inertia. I am used to the hard life, so I have to save everything.

Aunt Li, a relocated household in community B, has four houses. His daughter said that her old man did this on the one hand because he was tortured by poverty in the past, and even if he lived well later, he still had such concerns. As the saying goes, "you are not afraid of the dark when you see ghosts", so you are frugal and reluctant to waste.

On the other hand, because the elderly are getting weaker and weaker, there are more and more things they can't do, and they gradually feel out of control about things around them. This will make the old people feel anxious. Collecting old things as a psychological compensation can give the elderly a sense of control and accomplishment.

We are a resettlement community. There is an old man, about sixty or seventy years old, whose family conditions are acceptable. There is a building here, well dressed and with normal IQ. He has no disability, and his children and grandchildren are full. But more than once, I saw him rummaging through the trash can and picking up some bottles and cartons. I usually have the habit of saving bottles for my elders to sell. Thrift is a virtue, and I have no sense of shame. Even if I pick up bottles on the road and keep them for sale at home, it is a good habit to protect the environment. However, I don't understand by rummaging through the trash can. Although I may take more bottles, why can't I consider a few points?

As children, they often don't understand and can't tolerate this. It is extremely uneconomical and unsanitary to use tens of thousands of square meters of houses to pile bottles, cans and garbage. Children are more worried about the elderly.

1- The first and most important thing is safety and health. The physique of the elderly declines with the increase of age, and so does their resistance. They put their hands into the trash can or even into the garbage room on a hot day, not to mention all kinds of viruses and germs. What if they meet nails, glass and knives? The money for picking up garbage is not enough for medical expenses! There are children at home, too. After picking up the garbage, they may not clean it immediately, and then they will be on the children.

2- Secondly, the recovered bottles and the like will definitely not be sold immediately, but stored, which will definitely occupy a place. It's not worth the high house price, but garbage takes up most of the place. But it's another matter for a rich man like this to directly take a garage to load the garbage he picked up () …

3- finally, picking up garbage can enrich your spiritual life? Take my grandmother for example. She also has the habit of picking up garbage. There are piles everywhere in the house. Every day, she also cares about how much money she sells. Sometimes she keeps in mind that she sells a few cents less. More importantly, the money from selling bottles made her even more afraid to enjoy life. She has always felt that picking up bottles is hard, dirty and tired, and she is reluctant to spend money!

In contrast, picking up bottles and cardboard in the garbage does more harm than good. Some elderly people always ignore the existing risks for a little petty profit, and the final risk may be that they lose everything and regret it.

Old people may regard picking up bottles as a way to release pressure, and people around them may ignore her feelings, which may lead to their low self-esteem and don't think it is a bad thing to pick up garbage themselves. I once met an old woman whose daughter had an emotional crisis in middle age. Later, I often saw her picking up bottles outside.

Rich old people have more hobbies of picking up garbage, which shows that children spend less and less time with the elderly now.

Spend more time with them, just as they have patiently accompanied you.
