There were three outstanding figures in the Renaissance, namely Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raphael. In terms of age, Leonardo da Vinci is the oldest, Michelangelo is the second, and Raphael is the youngest, but it does not prevent him from coming from behind and tying for the throne of the Renaissance.

Raphael's father is a court painter. Raphael was by his father's side since he was a child, and he began to learn painting from his father when he was very young. Raphael's father died when he was 1 1. Later, he was sent outside to study painting, and his teacher was Pietro Perugino. At the age of 2 1, Raphael drew a picture that surpassed his teacher perugino.

Raphael heard that Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo were invited to Florence to create, and he also went to Florence to watch and learn the creation process of the two masters at close range, hoping to learn something. Sure enough, Raphael's paintings have made great progress after this period of observation and study. Influenced by Leonardo da Vinci, he learned to express the inner world of people, and he can also paint people beautifully and idealized. Raphael learned the understanding of human body structure from Michelangelo, and the characters are very sculptural, especially in the work Athens College. In a word, Raphael is a painter who is good at absorbing nutrition from others, thus improving artistic expression.

Raphael painted many statues of the Virgin Mary in his life, so he was also called the painter of the Virgin Mary. The most famous Madonna is the Sistine Madonna mentioned yesterday and the Madonna on the grass. His Madonna has a beautiful picture, balanced composition, full of human warmth and vitality. The image of the Virgin Mary is like the mother and son in the world, which brings people closer to God. This is also a manifestation of Renaissance humanism, and balance and stability are also the characteristics pursued by Renaissance painting.

Raphael also has a very famous work, The Academy of Athens, which takes the anecdote of the ancient Greek philosopher Plato as the theme, breaks the boundaries of time and space with extremely inclusive and free and open ideas, and brings together cultural celebrities representing different disciplines such as philosophy, mathematics, music and astronomy. In the form of recalling the golden age in history, it places the author's longing for a better future and expresses the concentrated praise for people who pursue wisdom and truth among mankind. Out of reverence for Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, Raphael also put their images in his paintings. Leonardo da vinci occupies an absolute C position, appearing in the center as Plato, while Michelangelo plays the role of Heraclitus. Although he appeared in the painting, he only showed his face in a corner.

Raphael has a good relationship with the Pope's court, and his emotional intelligence is also admired by later generations. Among these three outstanding artists, Raphael has made the greatest contribution to the western oil painting art, because he is the only one who specializes in oil painting. The other two have a wide range of interests, especially Leonardo da Vinci, who left few paintings in his life. Michelangelo, on the other hand, paid more attention to sculpture, so there were few paintings except the zenith painting of the Vatican church. Raphael's paintings are also excellent in light, color and detail. He was also invited by the Vatican Pope to paint murals in the Vatican. He painted the paintings in the signature hall, representing theology, philosophy, poetics and law respectively.

Raphael died young at the age of 37, leaving more than 300 paintings for the world. Raphael's art was called "classicism" by later generations, which not only inspired the Baroque style, but also had a far-reaching influence on the French classical school and art history in the17th century.
