The arrival of the broadband era has brought people from simply browsing the web to sending and receiving emails to a brand-new multimedia era. However, the development of bandwidth can't keep up with the publicity and promotion of various media, which is an embarrassing topic for a long time.
Internet cafe customers want to watch movies, and the export bandwidth is crowded. This contradiction is difficult to overcome in most Internet cafes, so we have to set up our own video server.

The first is hardware. Video server hardware selection needs to pay attention to the following points:
1, no need for high-frequency CPU.
When providing services, the main feature of video server is continuous I/O* operation. CPU resources are not occupied. According to my experience, an Internet cafe with 50 machines and a CPU of around PIII500 can be very competent.
2. High stability.
High stability is very important. Generally, the video server will run continuously for more than 10 days-1 month. If you turn off the computer when the guests are watching with relish, it will damage the image of your internet cafe. If you have a generous budget, you can consider choosing a server motherboard with 64-bit bandwidth, which is very beneficial to the continuous massive I/O*. However, this motherboard generally costs more than 2000 yuan. Considering the budget, this is a bit expensive. So generally speaking, you should consider those ordinary PC motherboards with good reputation or you are very confident in their stability. Don't chase the newly listed models. I recommend two motherboards, Mei Jie 6BA+IV 6BA+IV, AbitBH6. Both motherboards are old BX motherboards, and the price may be 600-700 yuan or lower. But their stability is impeccable.
3. Storage subsystem.
Storage subsystem is the key of video server.
In order to adapt to a large number of I/O* operations of the video server for a long time, it is absolutely not advisable for the system and video files to share a hard disk. You must use a separate disk or disk array to store video files. If you choose the server motherboard with SCSI interface when choosing the motherboard, then we can consider using SCSI hard disk. Of course the price is high. A 30G ordinary SCSI hard disk costs about 2700 yuan, so we choose IDE raid. For what RAID is, please refer to the relevant documents. Both highpointtech and promise provide us with suitable RAID products. Generally, products with market price above 400 yuan can adapt to this working environment well. Be careful not to buy some "soft" raid cards, which will have poor performance and consume a lot of system resources. RAID 100 in Iwill is a good choice. It is recommended to use the 5400 rpm model for hard disk, because the overall disk performance will be nearly n times that of a single hard disk after using RAID to build IDE array. It depends on the number of hard disks you have.
The 7200 rpm hard disk is too hot for a long time, and its performance is higher than that of the 5400 rpm hard disk. It is useless after being amplified by RAID, and its price is obviously higher than that of the 5400 rpm hard disk. That's why you don't use a 7200 rpm hard disk.
You need at least 2 hard disks to use IDE Raid. Adding a hard disk installation system will cost you the storage subsystem.

If your budget is really tight, you can give up IDE RAID and just use a 7200 rpm hard disk to store video files. Note: It is strongly reminded not to put the system and video files on the same hard disk.
4. Network part
Don't use the cheap 8 139 network card. Intel 10/ 100M Pro+ is recommended. 250 yuan RMB is probably needed.
The video server should be connected to the backbone switch of the Internet cafe.

Build a directory named Media as the mount point of RealServer. You'd better not put anything else here.
RealServer can be downloaded in many places. It comes with a 10 user license. One input is required during installation. Finally, you need to set the user name and password of the management interface. After installation, two icons will be generated on the desktop. Run RealServer 8.0 Administrator.
Enter the configuration interface. At this time, you need to enter the user password, which was set by yourself when you first installed it.
Select configuration-> General settings->; Connection control, change the setting of the maximum number of client connections to the maximum number supported by the license. The maximum number of licensed clients is the maximum number of your licenses.
Configuration-> General settings->; Mount point, fill in the name of the virtual directory where you want to access the video stream in the box below the edit mount point. If it is a movie, then fill in /Movie/ If it is E:\Media, then fill in E:\Media. Then click the edit button. Click the Apply button again. The industry will pop up to tell you that the modification is successful and you need to restart RealServer. Restart it. Let's say it's 0 1.rm. Then suppose your IP address is192.168.1.165438. Start RealPlayer, select the open location in the file menu, and fill in RTSP:/192.65438.
If there is nothing unexpected, you will see that the RealPlayer display is buffering and will start playing in a few seconds. Now please go back to the configuration interface of RealServer, click Monitor, and you will see the operation of RealServer. Player Connections shows how many users are currently connected. File usage shows the number of different streaming files currently on demand. CPU utilization shows the CPU utilization of the actual server, memory utilization shows the memory utilization, and bandwidth utilization shows the bandwidth utilization.
