Peili Square is located in Anning District, a famous science, education and cultural district in Lanzhou. There are dozens of universities including Northwest Normal University, Lanzhou Jiaotong University, Gansu University of Political Science and Law, Gansu Provincial Party School, Gansu Agricultural University, Economic Management Cadre College and Lanzhou City College. Peili Square is located in the center leading to these schools, with its south side echoing Northwest Normal University and Gansu Provincial Party School, and its east and south sides surrounded by Lanzhou Jiaotong University, Lanzhou City College and Economic Management Cadre College. Peili Square covers a small area, about two or three acres, but it is planned and designed with the beauty of natural harmony. First of all, it did not deliberately transform the terrain into an endless "square", but was built according to the surrounding terrain, and the ground paved with irregular bluestone slabs was patchwork. The boundary between the square and the street is a bluestone low wall, which is planted with various flowers and trees. In summer and autumn, Paley Square looks like a big flower bed from the street.

In fact, the cultural value of Paley Square has already surpassed the gardening value of the square. Paley Square was built for rewi alley, a New Zealander who has made great contributions to China's vocational education, and the cultural nature of the square is reflected here. In the northeast corner of the square, stands a huge group sculpture statue, which is a statue of Alley and Gansu children together. I saw Alley sitting kindly, surrounded by several lovely pupils. On the north side of the square is an embossed wall about 100 meters long and several meters high. The relief records and reflects the touching story of Aili's founding of Peili School in Shandan, Gansu Province in chronological order.

Nearly 60% of the square is occupied by lawns and various trees. The main tree species are peach trees, conifers and weeping willows. At present, the investment promotion of the underground shopping mall covering an area of 6,600 square meters has started, and the "new" Peili Plaza, which integrates leisure, entertainment, fitness and shopping, has begun to take shape. According to the plan, the central area of the square is a circular fountain with a diameter of 18m. The statue of Alley is in the center of the fountain. The ground of the square is all designed with granite, and the kerbs are black cornerstones, which makes the whole square look solemn and fashionable. After plastic surgery, Peili Square will take on a new look, integrating leisure, entertainment, fitness, sightseeing and shopping. The underground of the newly-built Peili Square is a civil air defense project, which is mainly used for commercial operation at ordinary times. The ground is divided into three parts: observation deck area, square center area and entrance area. The relief on the north side of the square is restored with granite, and the effect is more realistic. Paley Square has also built an underground shopping mall covering an area of 6,600 square meters. At present, the above-ground leisure square of the "new" Peili Square, covering an area of more than 9,000 square meters, has been basically completed, and fitness equipment and other facilities are in place, and green landscapes and fountains will be added and improved one after another. The underground shopping mall covers an area of 6,600 square meters, which was officially opened on the National Day in 2009, and is positioned as a low-middle consumption level.
