1 Introduction to the College

The Conservatory of Music of Qingdao University is located in Qingdao, the eastern city of China. It is located on the coast of the Yellow Sea, at the foot of Fushan Mountain, with beautiful scenery. With the care and support of leaders at all levels and departments of Qingdao University, the Conservatory of Music has made great progress.

The Conservatory of Music of Qingdao University is the highest music institution in Qingdao, with young musician Dr. Tao Yabing and professor as the dean and famous conductor Mr. Bian Zushan as the honorary dean and conductor of the student symphony orchestra. There are three undergraduate majors in musicology, music performance and composition technology theory and one master of music major.

2 University history

The Conservatory of Music, formerly known as the Music Department of Qingdao Normal University, was established in 1984. Later, it was upgraded to Teachers College, and 1993 was merged into Qingdao University. Musicology (Music Education) was established in 1998. On the basis of this department, the Art College was established in Qingdao University from 1 1 in 2000. In 2003, the college obtained a master's degree in musicology. In August 2004, it was renamed "Conservatory of Music".

In order to adapt to the diversity of music performance disciplines, the college has established a teaching system focusing on vocal music, keyboard, orchestral music, folk music and musicology, including dozens of musical instruments and professional categories, hired outstanding domestic professionals as professional guidance, and introduced advanced management teaching experience at home and abroad into the Conservatory of Music. Adhere to the standardized professional teaching mode in teaching, give full play to the enthusiasm of existing teachers, and hire famous artists and performing artists at home and abroad as part-time teachers, which ensures that the college is in line with art education at home and abroad in discipline setting and teaching. In addition, the college also attaches great importance to the teaching link of "practice". The college has music practice performance organizations such as student symphony orchestra, choir, national orchestra, chamber orchestra and dance team, aiming at consolidating theoretical teaching through practice and displaying teaching results through stage. In the course arrangement, the proportion of practical courses such as symphony orchestra ensemble class, folk music team class and chorus class has been increased. The college also plans to improve students' artistic practice level by focusing on training top students to participate in domestic and international competitions, holding concerts every week, and performing for students majoring in music performance at the end of each semester. In addition to full-time undergraduate teaching, the Conservatory of Music has also carried out all-round and multi-level art education, established diversified Philharmonic Art School, affiliated art high school and Qingdao Oriental Private School, and jointly set up characteristic music classes. Over the years, it has successfully carried out the teaching of correspondence courses. In 2005, the college opened an in-service master's course.

Music major (basic study period: four years)

This major trains musicological theoretical talents with extensive basic theoretical knowledge and outstanding professional knowledge of musicology, practical skills of music and teaching and scientific research ability, who can engage in teaching, research, editing, commenting and management in schools, social literary and art organizations, art research units and cultural institutions, publishing, broadcasting, film and television and other departments.

The main courses are: art, pedagogy, piano teaching, vocal music teaching, basic theory of music, chorus conducting, theoretical basis of music education, as well as acoustics, polyphony music, form analysis, China music history, western music history, solfeggio, introduction to national folk music, musicology, etc.

Music performance major (basic study period: four years)

This major trains senior professionals who have the basic theoretical literacy and ability of music performance and can engage in performance, teaching and research in specialized literary and art groups, art colleges and other relevant departments and institutions.

The main courses are: art, performance, music technology theory, music history, folk music, ensemble (singing), ensemble (singing) and so on.
