Junior high school is a part of compulsory education, generally starting from the sixth grade after graduation (in some areas, the sixth grade is a preparatory class for junior high schools, except for the May Fourth Movement). The policies for primary schools to enter junior high schools are defined by district and county education committees, which mainly include school district admission (the main admission method for public junior high schools to promote the balance of compulsory education), computer allocation (the main admission method for private junior high schools to eliminate the phenomenon of school choice fever), and junior high school entrance examination (once the main admission method for private junior high schools and some key public junior high schools, it is now required to be phased out).

Junior high schools no longer distinguish between key junior high schools and ordinary junior high schools, and schools are not allowed to distinguish between key junior high schools (also called experimental classes) and ordinary classes, which also reflects the reform direction of junior high schools in China in the future, so that students in compulsory education can enjoy an equal, balanced and high-quality educational environment. Most junior high schools have three years, that is, the seventh grade, and 8th grade, the ninth grade, has no money/science.

In general, you will learn new knowledge in the first two and a half years. The next semester of grade nine is mainly about preparing for the senior high school entrance examination, and then you can enter ordinary high schools (ordinary high schools), vocational high schools (vocational high schools) or secondary specialized schools (technical secondary schools).

Note: Junior high school graduates will also face different choices when they enter different schools. Graduates from ordinary high schools, vocational high schools, technical secondary schools, technical schools and normal secondary schools can take part in the national college entrance examination and enter the corresponding undergraduate and junior college for further study.
