Vintage is "A's garbage, B's treasure". Strictly speaking, real antiques are called antiques, and modern "antiques" are called Vintage (literally translated as "second-hand goods" in Chinese). Although there is no obvious time limit, it usually refers to the well-preserved masterpieces of the times from 1940 to 1980. To put it more simply, antiques are the treasures of museums, and vintage wine is "one person's garbage is someone else's treasure."

In fact, the meaning of "Vintage" is simply "old". It originated and multiplied in cheap second-hand shops, but it doesn't mean it is out of date. It embodies a mature and eternal classic charm. In vernacular Chinese, classic clothes are clothes that can be worn in the past, present and future. They are not designed solely to cater to the fashion of the season, such as the slim pants worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1950s, the blouses with floral patterns designed by Emilio Pucci in the 1960s, and Chanel's suits and skirts throughout that era, all of which are the most standard retro.

In today's fashion field, "retro clothes" has a broader meaning, which is used to explain an antique temperament: the antique displayed from the treasures of court style, the classic works of the past, and the small details of handwork or cloth. Especially in recent years, the creative inspiration of popular designers is often based on their own impressions, but they have begun to forget the times. With a little change in design skills, they can be associated with modernity. It doesn't need to be as old as the museum's collection, but it keeps the clues of time. It is also the "retro" in fashion, which is collectively referred to as "retro clothes" in Chinese.

However, it is not appropriate to call "second-hand shirts" "fashion retro". It became a retro costume because it became famous as soon as it was launched, such as Chanel, Balenciaga, Emilio Pucci, Harston, Yves Saint Laurent, John Anthony, christian dior and all the fashion designers ordered at that time. Its classic styles (famous works, the most breakthrough works, or representative works) form a collection value, and after twenty or thirty years, they can represent the fashion of that period and become "retro clothes". In addition, T-shirts, jackets, classic jeans, etc. Casual clothes that were once popular in some famous schools and can represent a glorious period in the past are also within the collection scope of this "retro clothes", which is far from the so-called "antiques" that are unknown in the second-hand goods stalls. The latter, called second-hand clothes at best, is a far cry from the word antique.
