What is a rubber bug?
Rubber beetle, also known as stem borer weevil, mainly harms the stem base and bulb of banana plants near the ground, causing criss-crossing tunnels between the stem base and bulb. After the young plant is damaged, the whole plant shrinks, the aboveground part can not get enough nutrients, the growth and development are blocked, the leaves germinate slowly, and the disease resistance is poor; The adult plant is damaged, the growth is weakened, the leaves are premature, the ear cannot be headed or the fruit ear is small, and the banana fruit loses its green leaves before it is mature and full. The grown banana fruit is small, slender, low-grade and has no commercial value.

The control method is as follows:

1. clearing the garden before planting: when the temperature rises and stabilizes at 18 ~ 20℃ in spring, timely prepare the soil, turn over the soil and clean up the diseased banana buds. After cleaning, spray universal tree protection liquid for sterilization and disinfection.

2. Seedling quarantine: The newly planted banana garden should pay attention to the selection of insect-free seedlings, and it is strictly forbidden to transport insect-carrying bulbs or bud-sucking banana seedlings from the epidemic area to prevent the insect-carrying seedlings from being introduced into the new planting area.

3. Artificial killing or trapping of adults: combined with cleaning the garden, killing adults gathered at the base of leaf sheaths and the outer sheaths of dry pseudostems. At the same time, the cut fake stems can be cut into blocks and placed between banana rows to trap and kill adults.

4. Drug control: After the insect plants are cleaned or the dead stems of the plants are cut off, targeted drugs and new high-fat films are used for control according to the requirements of plant protection, once every 10 day.
