Qidan lived in the upper reaches of Xiliao River in eastern Inner Mongolia for generations, belonging to the descendants of Donghu people, and began to rise in the northern grassland at the end of the Tang Dynasty. In 907 AD, Lu Ye Baoji gradually unified the ministries of the northern grassland Khitan. In 9 16, he became emperor, founded the country according to the Central Plains system, and later renamed it "Liao", later called Liao Dynasty or Liao State. The Liao Dynasty, established by this powerful grassland nation, integrated many ethnic groups into one country and had its own unique politics, economy, culture and life. It once dominated the north of China for more than 200 years, confronted with the Five Dynasties, Ten Kingdoms and the Song Dynasty for a long time, and played a decisive role in the history of China.
On June 16, Impression of Khitan: Cultural Relics Exhibition of Liao Dynasty opened in Guangdong Provincial Museum. This exhibition is co-sponsored by Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and Inner Mongolia Cultural and Tourism Department, and undertaken by Guangdong Provincial Museum and Inner Mongolia Museum. The exhibition is divided into three parts: grassland empire, faint civilization and pluralistic compatibility. Today, 28 pieces/sets of Liao Dynasty fine cultural relics were discovered and unearthed in Inner Mongolia, including 76 pieces/sets of first-class cultural relics such as Princess Chen Jin Mianju, moire gold-plated copper harness, chest nail-patterned glass plate, Liao white glazed Capricorn pot, silver-plated lacquer box and blue-and-white carved jade flying sky, which will make the audience dizzying.
Precious exhibits come from seven cultural institutions, including Inner Mongolia Museum, Inner Mongolia Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, Chifeng Museum, Chifeng Bahrain Zuo Qi Museum, Chifeng Bahrain Right Banner Museum, Chifeng Aohan Banner Museum and Chifeng Ningcheng Liaozhongjing Museum. It is not only the first concentrated appearance of Liao Dynasty fine cultural relics in Guangdong, but also one of the largest temporary exhibitions in the history of Guangdong Expo.
