What age is yoga suitable for people?
Yoga is suitable for anyone who can breathe, even the disabled. Because there are many ways to practice yoga, you can practice yoga breathing or practice without disability. What we're talking about here is breathing, not breathing control. Traditional yoga requires breathing control, which requires that after practicing posture, your body's meridians are smooth and you can sit comfortably in the lotus for at least two hours before practicing. However, many yoga practitioners don't have the patience now. We should stick to practicing yoga and enjoy the process, instead of using it as a quick tool. Children under the age of eight are not suitable for posture practice because their bodies are still in a very immature stage. Today, waiting for the bus on the road, I met a student who was nearly sixty years old. She had an operation for four months because she tore her achilles tendon playing badminton, and now she is still limping, which makes my heart ache. She wants to lose weight because she is fat. After practicing two yoga classes every day, she also plays badminton. I reminded her not to exercise too much. She practices yoga and badminton twice a day, some of which are too intense. Besides, badminton, like yoga, should wear appropriate equipment, use professional venues and learn from professional teachers. She said nothing, but it happened. Today, she looked at me with tears in her eyes, which moved me very much. She said, "Teacher, I can't practice yoga any more. I like yoga very much. " I told her that yoga never left her, and everyone could get hurt. This is an episode in life. I once learned how to love my body. Heel injury, you have legs, you still have hands, and there are many positions to practice. As long as you avoid the injured place and let it go, things will get better. Yoga has many postures, such as standing upside down against the wall, which is suitable for you to practice. My students, no matter how old, are all my children in my mind. They feel dependent and trust me, and I am their yoga mother. I think of my senior yoga class students, each of whom is almost seventy years old. Everyone has a serious illness, either heart disease or high blood pressure, but they cherish their health more than all young people. They are fine. They kept practicing posture for half a year, which was better than many young people. I often inspire my young students. We can't even be worse than 70-year-olds. Yoga is slow and enjoyable. I wish more elderly people can enjoy the health and happiness brought by yoga even if they are over 100 years old.
