Legal basis: People's Police Law of the People's Republic of China.

Article 26 A people's policeman shall meet the following conditions: (1) A citizen who has reached the age of 18; (2) Supporting the Constitution of People's Republic of China (PRC); (3) Having good political and professional qualities and good conduct; (4) Being in good health; (5) Having graduated from high school or above; (6) Volunteering in the work of the people's police. Under any of the following circumstances, a person shall not serve as a people's policeman: (1) He has been criminally punished for a crime; (2) Being expelled from public office.

Twenty-seventh people's police recruitment, must be in accordance with the provisions of the state, public examination, strict assessment, merit.

Article 28 A person who holds a leading position in the people's police shall meet the following conditions: (1) Having professional knowledge of law; (2) Having experience in political and legal work and certain organization, management and command ability; (3) Having a college degree or above; (4) Having been trained by the People's Police College and passed the examination.
