The Long Season takes a different approach, from the perspective of three frustrated "old men" such as taxi driver Wang Xiang, brother-in-law Gong Biao and former captain of Interpol detachment Ma Desheng. Taking the seemingly routine deck collapse as the incision, the shocking and confusing unsolved case of 18 years ago was drawn.
The play tells a generation and their lives from the perspective of the elderly, with a long enough time span and a more powerful sense of impact. Compared with the conventional suspense drama, it tends to be linear narrative, and puts the logical chain in front of the audience. The drama adopts the three-line narrative of 1997, 1998, 20 16 staggered in time and space, alternately using flashbacks and interludes, creating suspense in the form of grass snake gray lines, sometimes making people secretly guess, and sometimes making people suddenly realize, refreshing the audience's view of watching the drama.
