The story of Dharma facing the wall is just to express a belief in Buddhist practice. Many historical records record that Master Dharma spent nine years in Shaolin Temple, which should be true, but there is no record that he did not eat or drink. However, some history books record that bad people poisoned his food, and Master Dharma vomited poison after exercising his power, indicating that he needed to eat and drink for 9 years.

He is the ancestor of Zen Buddhism in China, claiming to be the 28th founder of Zen Buddhism, and he mainly advocates the two-in-four-line Zen method. The thought of the founder of Dharma has a great influence on China culture. He was born in South Tianzhu (India) and belongs to the czar caste. It is said that he was the third son of the King of Southern Tianzhu Xiang, and later became a monk.

There is a compact small lawn in front of the cave, surrounded by shade, and there is no light in the sky. Really: "There is no midsummer here, and the empty mountains listen to birds singing."

When Father Dharma came to Shaolin Temple, he used this natural cave as his meditation place. According to legend, the founder of Dharma sat cross-legged in this cave, facing the stone wall all day. It took nine years from 527 to 536. Later it became a beautiful talk in the history of Buddhism.
