Detailed plot

1959, the foundation stone laying ceremony of William Dawes Elementary School was held in Massachusetts. A group of naive and romantic children drew a vision for the future on drawing paper. Under the leadership of the principal and teacher, they sealed the photos in a time capsule and buried them under the cornerstone. Now, 50 years later, after the ceremony, the freshmen dig out the time capsule from the ground and open it. Everyone has a drawing paper of that year, while the little boy Caleb (chandler canterbury) gets a strange paper full of irregular numbers.

If caleb wasn't born stubborn and curious, if this piece of paper wasn't "unearthed" half a century ago, and if caleb's father Ted (Nicolas Cage) wasn't a professor who studied randomness very much, maybe it would just be regarded as a child's nonsense and thrown aside casually.
