What's your favorite Du Qifeng movie? Why?
I judged the death of Du Keqi Peak best.

Death Judge is a Hong Kong-made nonsense comedy film directed by Du Qifeng, written by Sandy Shaw and starring Stephen Chow and Anita Mui. This film mainly tells the story of Qing officials protecting each other and the aggrieved widow Yang Xiuzhen being rehabilitated by Song Shijie. It was released in Hong Kong on July 2nd, 1992. It has been nearly 30 years since its first broadcast.

In The Judge, Stephen Chow plays Song Shijie, the judge of the Qing Dynasty. With his intelligence, he vindicates the grievances of the people. Although the officialdom was corrupt and dark at that time, Stephen Chow himself took bribes, so that his dozen children were not brought up. In order to change the status quo, he stopped litigating for others, but then he suffered inexplicable injustice and returned to the rivers and lakes. After some efforts, the case was finally solved.

Du Qifeng remakes the classic Cantonese opera Judge of Death in the way of old bottles and new wine, and finds the best annotation point for Stephen Chow's nonsense style through the image of a folk artist. However, this is a movie that can easily drown all the images in the glory of star actors. Anita Mui's uninhibited, kind, straightforward and superb martial arts design made her equal with the star actors and became the first "star girl" who did not become a vase image.

Death is a unique one among Stephen Chow's early works. Stephen Chow left the gambling films and comedy martial arts films which were sold wildly in cinemas, and acted as a comedy "court film". The film is both civil and military, with laughter and tears. The actors' performances are skillful and natural, and all links are stable and thick. The overall effect is tight and compact, and the details are bright. However, these jokes are by no means intentional and natural.
