According to legend, the name of Tieguanyin tea originated in the Qing Dynasty. A tea farmer named Wang Tieshan planted tea trees in Anxi County, Fujian Province. One day, he found an old monk standing in his tea garden lost in thought. Wang Tieshan asked him curiously why he came here. The old monk just silently held a cup of tea, sipping it and smelling the aroma, and finally came to the conclusion that this is the tea I was looking for!

Wang Tieshan was surprised and asked, "What's the name of this tea?" The old monk replied, "The yield of this tea soup is not high, but every tea tree can pick a lot of tea.". After soaking, there is the fragrance of tea when it is just out of the pot, and the aftertaste is sweet, hence the name Guanyin. This tea is hard and durable, such as the hardness of iron, hence the name Tieguanyin. "

In this way, Tieguanyin tea spread in Anxi and became a very famous tea. That's why it got its name.
