The material basis of human height is bones. Height is mainly related to the long bones of skull, spine and lower limbs.
The development of human body is a very complicated process, from top to bottom, from near to far.
The head develops the earliest. At birth, the head length of a newborn is 1/2 of that of an adult, while the head length of a newborn is 1/4 of its own length.
In contrast, the development of lower limbs is late, and the newborn is only 1/4 of that of adults at birth. Therefore, the development of long bones of lower limbs has the greatest influence on height after birth (see figure 1- 1).

Generally speaking, under normal circumstances, the birth time of a person is about 50 cm; 1 year-old is a 1 leap in height growth, which can grow to about 75 cm; 2 years old, about 85 cm long; 3~7 years old, increasing by 6~6 every year? 5 centimeters.
When most people reach the age of 1 1~ 12, they will grow to 130~ 140 cm. During this period, the height difference of most people is not very big.
However, with the advent of adolescence, height, like all organs, has experienced another leap. Gender differences, genetic factors, nutritional status and physical exercise make obvious differences in height between people. During this period, some people can increase their height by 6~7 cm every year, or even increase 10~ 13 cm. In junior high school, the height growth was very obvious. Often within a year or two, an innocent child will grow into a strong young man or an elegant and beautiful girl.
After 17~ 18 years old, the growth rate of height obviously slows down until sexual maturity, that is, when girls 18~23 years old and boys are 22~25 years old, people's height is basically stereotyped.

Factors affecting human height

Besides race, age, nutrition and social environment, people's height is mainly determined by genetic factors.
Genetic genes determine the amount of auxin secreted by various endocrine glands in the human body, thus affecting and controlling the growth of height. The more auxin is secreted, the more it can promote the growth of bones, muscles, connective tissues and internal organs, and the more it can increase the height.
However, if too much auxin is secreted, it will easily develop into "gigantism" or "acromegaly"; Too little secretion is easy to form "dwarfism". The so-called dwarfism patients refer to men and women whose height is less than 120 cm. Generally speaking, the height of men is less than 145 cm, and that of women is less than 135 cm, which is short stature and not necessarily physiological abnormality.
Endocrine hormones such as thyroxine, adrenocortical hormone and sex hormone directly affect the growth and development of human body through substance metabolism and body fluid circulation.
Therefore, slow growth and development is one of the main symptoms of endocrine system dysfunction.
There are about 5 million "genetic genes" in human nucleus, and it is these genetic genes that determine human appearance, fatness, height and so on.

Teenagers' participation in physical exercise helps to improve their height.

A child's height mainly depends on his parents' inheritance. The acquired conditions, especially whether you can insist on taking part in physical exercise since childhood, can affect the genetic variation of height to a certain extent and promote you to grow taller.
There are many examples where parents are not tall and children grow taller. Take the author as an example. Father's height 170 cm, mother's height 156 cm. Because the author loves sports since childhood, especially martial arts, qigong, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, running, long jump, mountain climbing and so on, he can grow to 175 cm in height.
Many couples who live in the same building as the author are not tall and their children are tall. Their children have one thing in common, that is, they especially like physical exercise since childhood. One of them, the husband is not tall, only 164 cm, and the wife is not tall, only 154 cm. Their son loved sports since childhood, and by the time he was 20, he had grown into a big man of 179 cm. It is taller than father 15cm (see figure 1-2).

Why do teenagers often take part in physical exercise to promote their height growth?

In addition, teenagers' running and jumping can stimulate the epiphyseal cartilage at both ends of the long tubular bone of lower limbs, make chondrocytes grow vigorously and promote bone growth.

Physical exercise programs that are conducive to improvement.

1. Full body stretching project
Teenagers often take part in swimming, gymnastics, martial arts, aerobics, rhythmic gymnastics and all kinds of unarmed sports, which can not only fully stretch all joints of the body and lengthen muscles and ligaments, but also get all-round activities of internal organs, which is conducive to growth.
2. Full-body activities

If teenagers want to grow taller, they should not only take part in physical exercise regularly, but also develop good living habits at ordinary times:
1. Life is regular.
In daily life, eat three meals a day regularly and quantitatively. Don't be hungry, have a full meal, combine work and rest, eat well and have a good rest.
2. Pay attention to diet and nutrition
In life, pay attention to a balanced diet, not picky eaters, not partial eclipse, food should be diversified. Eat more whole grains and meat, eggs, fish, milk and other foods that are conducive to increase. (See Chapter 3 for more information. )
3. I feel good and cheerful.
In life, don't worry about trifles, let alone be ecstatic about trifles. You should always keep a good mental state and keep your body and mind healthy.
4. The posture of sitting, standing, walking and lying should be correct and appropriate.
Young friends usually stand and sit. Don't develop bad habits such as walking with your head down and reading and writing on your desk.
Step 5 get enough sleep
Only with a good sleep and a scientific and regular sleep can the body organs get a full rest, which is conducive to the recovery of body functions and the improvement of the body. (See Chapter 2 for details. )
Get more sunshine.
As the saying goes, "Everything grows on the sun." The healthy growth of teenagers can not be separated from sunshine bathing. Usually, you should take part in outdoor activities as much as possible and get more sunshine, which is not only good for your health, but also good for your height.
7. Don't smoke and drink.
Alcohol and tobacco are harmful to human growth and development, but not beneficial. There are hundreds of harmful substances in cigarettes. In particular, the content of nicotine in cigarettes is high, and nicotine is one of carcinogens. The main component of wine is alcohol, which easily destroys bone cells, reduces the proliferation of bone cells and slows down the growth of bones.
Of course, a small amount of drinking is good for the health of adults, but for developing teenagers, even a small amount of drinking will affect the normal growth of bones. Therefore, if young friends want to increase, it is best to stay away from alcohol and tobacco.

People spend13 of their life in sleep, and the quality of sleep, that is, how13 lives, directly affects the other two-thirds of their life journey.
Readers, you must have the experience that if you slept better and soundly last night, you will wake up this morning feeling relaxed, clear-headed and efficient in your study or work. I can also listen to and remember the contents of the teacher's lecture, and I am in a good mood.
If you didn't sleep well last night, you will wake up this morning feeling lazy, dizzy, unwilling to do anything, inefficient in study or work, always absent-minded in class, unable to listen to the teacher, depressed and so on.
When people are sick, doctors often tell patients to stay in bed. In fact, the most common bed rest is also a very effective treatment. Good and sufficient sleep is often an important guarantee for people to relieve fatigue, restore physical strength, energy and improve health.
Scholars at home and abroad have found that good and adequate sleep has the following effects on human health:
(1) In a good sleep state, a series of physiological and biochemical changes will occur in the human body, which will help to restore physical strength, enhance immunity, overcome diseases and restore health.
(2) Good sleep can coordinate the cerebral cortex and enhance the function of muscle fibers. The most active cerebral cortex and skeletal muscle fiber cells, after a day's intense study or work, the metabolites increase greatly, and people will feel sleepy and ache all over their joints and muscles. At this time, it is necessary to relax through sleep and excrete its metabolites during sleep.
(3) Good sleep can improve immunity and enhance the phagocytosis of white blood cells. This provides a powerful defense force for the body to resist the invasion of various diseases. Some people still had a swelling on their bodies before going to bed last night, and they got up the next morning with anti-inflammatory powder, which is the reason.

The influence of sleep on human height

There is a popular proverb in China: "Children who can sleep grow up." Thousands of years of experience tell us that a good sleep contributes to the height of the human body.
Modern scientific research has fully confirmed the scientific nature of this proverb. Here are five questions to talk about the influence of sleep on human height:
(1) Growth hormone secretion increased significantly during sleep. After years of research, Japanese medical experts found that people secrete a lot of growth hormone during sleep. The amount of secretion in peak period is 5~7 times that in daytime.
The study also found that the secretion of growth hormone peaked about 70 minutes after falling asleep (less secretion during nap).
Stay awake in bed at night, and you won't secrete growth hormone. Only after falling asleep, growth hormone will be secreted slowly and gradually increased until it reaches its peak about 70 minutes after falling asleep. If you sleep for a few hours after 70 minutes, growth hormone will continue to be highly secreted. In this way, it is particularly beneficial to increase.
When you wake up, the secretion of growth hormone will be less and less until it stops.
It can be seen that only by improving the quality of sleep can we help the body increase.
I can't sleep well alone. He woke up just after sleeping for a while, and woke up after sleeping for a while. Therefore, if you wake up several times a night, the secretion of growth hormone will not be too much and will not last, and the impact will definitely increase.
In short, it is very important for young friends to increase their height and ensure the quality of sleep. Only by sleeping soundly and well can we create a favorable internal environment for their height.
(2) Sleeping at night is better than sleeping during the day. After years of research, Japanese medical experts found that sleeping at night is more conducive to the secretion of growth hormone than sleeping during the day. They also formed a group of high school students and college students who go to school during the day as the "daytime group", and another group of high school students and college students who go to school at night as the "evening group" for comparative study. The results show that the average height of the "day group" is significantly higher than that of the "night group". This is because the students in the "evening self-study group" attend classes at night and go to bed late, which affects the time and quality of sleep at night. The normal sleep rhythm is disturbed, the secretion of normal growth hormone is also disturbed, and its normal growth and development are also affected to some extent, thus increasing its influence.
Therefore, if young readers want to increase, they must not sleep too late at ordinary times, especially for too long, so as not to affect the increase.
(3) Sleeping for 8 hours is better than sleeping less than 8 hours. A survey was conducted in Japan, in which students and young people were divided into three groups for observation. Group 1, group 2, group 3, group 6, group 1. The results showed that the average height of 1 group who often slept for 8 hours was higher than that of the other two groups. It can be seen that teenagers must ensure adequate sleep, especially 8 hours of sleep every day, and the quality is good.
(4) Take part in sports or labor during the day, and sleep at night to secrete more growth hormone. Studies have found that if you take part in large-scale sports or heavy physical labor during the day, you will secrete more growth hormone earlier and more at night after going to sleep. Some foreign experts have conducted a long-term investigation and study on some athletes, and found that some athletes exercise a lot during the day, and after falling asleep at night, the secretion of growth hormone increases by 20~40 compared with those who do not participate in sports during the day. This further confirms the scientific conclusion that regular physical exercise is helpful to the secretion of growth hormone and is conducive to the increase.
"The sleeping child has grown up." This popular proverb doesn't mean that you should sleep with your head covered all day. On the contrary, whether teenagers or children are active during the day, they are more likely to fall asleep at night, and they sleep soundly and secrete more growth hormone, thus promoting the increase.
(5) Some mental factors affect sleep, and the restriction increases. Studies by foreign experts have confirmed that some mental factors seriously affect sleep, and the final impact will be greater and greater. This is because some people are troubled by mental factors for a long time, which will inevitably affect their mental state, leading to poor sleep and a significant decrease in growth hormone secretion.
Most of the teenagers who want to improve their health are college students, middle school students and primary school students, and some of them are young people who have just joined the army. They have insufficient social experience and are at a loss after encountering some unpleasant things, either depressed or anxious. For example, quarreling with classmates and friends, quarreling with colleagues and comrades at higher levels, failing exams, being unable to find a job, having money stolen, girls being bullied by bad guys, being lovelorn, parents divorcing and other unhappy things will seriously affect their mood and make them feel bad.
Lying in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep, finally falling asleep, waking up from a nightmare will inevitably affect the normal secretion of growth hormone, thus affecting the increase.
I remember receiving a female college student Li from Inner Mongolia a few years ago. Because her boyfriend left her, she was in a bad mood and suffered from severe insomnia. In her words, it is better to lie in bed with your eyes closed at night. Because I can't sleep with my eyes closed, I feel very uncomfortable. The more anxious I am, the less I can sleep. With your eyes open, you can look at the ceiling and count how many squares there are on the ceiling, but this is more comfortable than closing your eyes. Long-term insomnia has made her very haggard. She is only 22 years old and looks over thirty. Her eyes are dull and her facial skin is dull, which leads to many diseases. The author treated her several times with the massage technique of Chinese medicine acupuncturist, and taught her to practice "relaxing sleep" (this method is introduced in detail in the author's other book "Beauty, Losing Weight and Increasing Weight"). Six days later, she ate well, slept well, and her insomnia was cured. A few months after Li returned to Inner Mongolia, he called the author and said that he not only recovered his health, but also unexpectedly grew 2 cm.
You know, Li made a special trip to Beijing to find the author, not to increase, but mainly to treat insomnia. This case can prove that as long as the quality of sleep is improved, women can become taller after the age of 22.
Therefore, if young readers want to increase their height, they must try their best to get rid of the negative influence of unfavorable mental factors and try to lie down and sleep peacefully.

You can grow taller if you sleep well.

Sleep plays a very important role in the height of human body. Unfortunately, although many teenagers are eager now, they often ignore sleep. On the one hand, they seek medical advice and medicine everywhere, looking for prescriptions to increase their height, and some of them have traveled thousands of miles to Beijing to find the author for acupoint massage treatment. On the other hand, they don't take sleep seriously. Some people go to bed very late, play mahjong, play computer, watch videos and chat with friends at night, but they don't want to sleep at one or two in the morning. Some people like watching movies, TV, videos, books and periodicals about martial arts, murder and pornography. At night. After going to bed late, they often have some strange sexual dreams or nightmares (see Figure 2-2).
There are people lying in bed, but their hearts are still outside, thinking about the east and the west, thinking about this and that, and can't go to bed early.

Of course, some people really want to go to bed early, but they are in a bad mood, worried or unwell, and can't fall asleep soon.
Although this increase is influenced by many factors, only a good sleep can promote this increase. Otherwise, even if you eat well and take part in sports activities, it will be difficult to achieve obvious results.
So, how can we sleep well?
Based on my decades of life experience and clinical teaching experience, the author thinks that the following points are worthy of reference for young readers:
(1) Go to bed on time. Teenagers who want to increase their height must sleep 8 hours a day. Even if you are busy with your study or work, you should sleep for at least 7 hours and rest on time.
If you are used to sleeping at 9~ 10 at night, you'd better always sleep at this time.
If you are too busy studying or working, it is difficult to go to bed early. You can only sleep after 1 1 at night. It doesn't matter. It's best to always sleep at this time. Going to bed on time for a long time is easy to form conditional sleep habits. It's easy to get sleepy at this time, and I can fall asleep quickly when I go to bed, with good sleep quality.
Except in special circumstances, it is best not to go to bed early or late at ordinary times, otherwise it will easily disrupt the law of life and affect the "biological clock", thus affecting the quality of sleep.
(2) Don't read books, magazines and films with strong stimulating content before going to bed at night. Before going to bed at night, it is best not to watch audio-visual products and books and periodicals with strong stimulating content such as martial arts, murder and pornography. Otherwise, even if you fall asleep, it is easy to have some bad dreams. Sleeping unsteadily affects sleep and makes it difficult to fall asleep. If this continues, it will affect the increase. Teenagers had better listen to some light music before going to bed to help them fall asleep.
(3) It is best not to drink tea at night, especially strong tea. Drinking tea has many benefits. It can wake up, help digestion, diuresis, lose weight and so on. It is recognized as an ideal healthy drink. However, everything has two sides. If you drink tea at night, it is easy to excite your nerves and is not conducive to falling asleep. If you do this for a long time, it will seriously affect the quality of sleep. Therefore, if you want to drink tea, you can drink it in the morning and afternoon, but don't drink it at night, especially don't drink strong tea, let alone coffee. This will ensure the quality of sleep.
(4) Drink a glass of fresh milk before going to bed. Milk is a high altitude food, and drinking milk often helps to increase it. Not only that, milk or hypnotic food, whether adults or teenagers, if you can drink a glass of milk before going to bed, will help you fall asleep faster and sleep soundly. Therefore, drinking a glass of milk before going to bed for teenagers has the dual functions of hypnosis and promotion. If you can't buy fresh milk, you can use milk powder instead.
Please remember: the best time to drink milk is 30 minutes before bed.
(5) Don't think about anything while sleeping. Before going to bed at night, no matter what you think, it is best to sit or stand. You can also think about things or problems while walking around the room. Think it over before you go to bed. Don't sleep in bed. Think and think. Otherwise, it will seriously affect sleep and often dream, which will inevitably affect the quality of sleep.
According to the author's understanding, nearly 50 teenagers have this habit: before going to bed at night, they lie in bed and "watch movies" about what happened that day, thinking about what they did, what they didn't do or didn't finish, what they want to do the next day and so on. I suggest that teenagers who have this habit can make a slight change:
When you sleep at night, don't take off your coat first, take off your pants first. Put your legs under the quilt, sit on the bed, close your eyes, and then "watch a movie". When everything is thought over, take off your coat and lie down to sleep at once, so the effect will be better.
In addition, we should also pay attention to one point: except sleeping, it is best not to touch the bed at other times, not to lie in bed all the time, especially not to read books, watch TV or chat with people. Otherwise, the bed will lose its conditioned reflex to your sleep. You can't sleep when you really want to sleep.
Therefore, young friends who want to increase their height should try to put an end to all other thoughts and think nothing when they sleep. Lying in bed, only accomplish one thing-sleep.
(6) It is best to sleep on your back. Although there are various sleeping positions, there are only three basic sleeping positions, namely supine, prone and lateral.
According to the statistics of relevant experts, 60% people sleep on their backs, 35% people sleep on their sides and 5% people sleep on their stomachs.
Regarding side sleeping, some experts advocate that side sleeping is better, and some experts think that side sleeping is better. So far, no consensus has been reached.
The author believes that no matter what kind of sleeping position, you can sleep comfortably and use whatever you are used to.
Japanese scholars have found that people's postures during sleep are not fixed. No matter what position they sleep in, they will turn over when they fall asleep.
Just before I went to sleep, I slept soundly. But before long, he began to turn over and change into another posture. I slept for a while, turned it over again and repeated it many times.
Japanese scholars have observed that during the whole sleep process, the number of turns reaches at least 20~30 times, and the most reaches 50~60 times.
If you sleep on the right side at night and wake up in this position the next morning, if you think you have slept all night, you are all wet. I'm afraid you can't tell how many times you turned it over in one night. But there are also those who can't sleep, that is, those who are seriously ill and drunk.
Although you can sleep in any position, if you want to get taller, I suggest you sleep on your back. Because sleeping on your back is very beneficial to blood circulation and is also beneficial to increase (see Figure 2-3).
When sleeping on your back, you should pay attention to the following two points:
Don't put your hands on your chest, so as not to affect your heart and lung function and have nightmares. Put your hands beside you, palms down.
② The pillow should not be too high to avoid neck discomfort after waking up. Sleeping on a pillow that is too high is also easy to get cervical spondylosis.
(7) Before going to bed, it is best to practice relaxation and improve your work. As early as 1988, the author summarized a set of "relaxing and increasing work" according to the characteristics of China traditional health qigong "sleeping work" and teenagers' increasing work. This set of exercises is easy to learn and has the dual effects of hypnosis and promotion. Very suitable for teenagers who want to increase their height, safe and practical.
For more than ten years, the author has personally taught many young friends at home and abroad. After practicing, they all reported that they fell asleep quickly and slept soundly, and the effect of increasing height was good.
Therefore, young friends who want to improve their work, if interested, had better practice "relaxing and improving their work" for a while before going to bed (this method is introduced in detail in Chapter 5 of this book).

Height is "eaten"

An advertisement of a famous brand electric fan product in China is very interesting. The content is like this: "The reputation of this product is blown out."
In hot summer, when the electric fan is turned on, it brings cool air to people. It is said that this product has been in a shopping mall for thousands of hours without stopping. Visitors are full of praise and buyers are extremely enthusiastic. Because of its excellent quality and reliable reputation, this product has been sold well all over the country and exported to many countries.
It is said that the product reputation is "blown". It seems true. Then, it is vivid and appropriate to say that our bodies are "eaten".
If you don't eat it, you will lack nutrition, which will endanger your health and increase your influence in the long run. But you can't eat blindly. You should eat more food that is conducive to increase.
Nowadays, many young friends, including parents, ignore that the organic coordination of eating well, exercising well and sleeping well is helpful to improve their height, but blindly pursue some kind of height-increasing drugs or insoles.
In recent years, many young friends who want to increase their height have taken many drugs to increase their height, but with little effect.
The mother of a middle school student in Beijing once told the author very angrily: "Teacher Yang, you don't know that my daughter took more than 3,500 yuan of height-increasing drugs a year, but she didn't grow at all. Even if it is half a centimeter high, we will get some comfort in our hearts. Isn't it a lie that the instructions of those high-altitude drugs are so beautiful? ! "
Seeing and hearing that young friends spend so much money to go to higher for so many years. The author told young readers emotionally that they should stop pinning their hopes on the so-called panacea. "There is no pie that can't be dropped", as long as the following three things are done in a down-to-earth manner, it can be increased:
(1) Have a good meal. Often eat some foods that are conducive to height increase (see the fourth section of this chapter for details).
(2) Take good exercise. Take part in physical exercise and practice the methods of increasing height in this book.
(3) sleep well. Make sure you get enough sleep at night.
People often say: "Three bowls of rice, one drop of blood." It means it takes three bowls of rice to get a drop of blood. Although this sentence is exaggerated, it is enough to show how difficult it is to grow a little meat and bones from a drop of blood. From this point of view, how many bowls of rice do you have to eat to grow to 1 cm, 5 cm, 10 cm?
However, many teenagers, especially some young women who love beauty, are eager, but afraid of gaining weight, so they dare not eat enough.
In the summer vacation of 2002, the author also treated three female college students in a university in Beijing with the following methods:
(1) Massage technique, Chinese medicine acupuncturist, treated for one or several courses.
(2) Help them learn these ways to increase their height and let them go back to practice every day.
(3) Advise them to eat more meat, eggs, milk, fish, shrimp, whole grains and other foods that are conducive to increase.
Six months later, the three female college students paid a return visit to the author together. Two of them did it according to the above method, and one grew 3? 8 cm, and the other one is 2? 9 cm, the third girl hardly increased. After chatting, I know that the third girl is afraid of gaining weight. She hardly eats breakfast every day, eats a little at lunch and only eats some fruits and vegetables for dinner. The serious lack of nutrition affects the effect of fattening.
Therefore, young readers who want to increase their height should rest assured and eat boldly. At the same time, actively participate in physical exercise or practice the method of increasing height in this book. This way, you won't gain weight. Not only will you not get fat, but you will also make your body more fit.
