Leiyang Tian Yao Airport is the headquarters of the Eighth Division of the Air Force. It is one of the six military airports in China and the largest airport in Hunan Province. The Eighth Division of the Air Force is now under the Air Force of Guangzhou Military Region, with two bomber regiments, one tanker regiment, Leiyang base and Hengyang base under its jurisdiction.
Tian Yao Airport is located 20km south of leiyang city and 35km north of Hengyang. There is a civilian Hengyang Nanyue Airport 30 kilometers northwest of Tian Yao Airport. The two airports can complement each other in military and civilian advantages and enhance their practicality and combat effectiveness.
In peacetime, the airport can be effectively managed as long as the four bridges connecting Tian Yao Airport across the thunder water are well guarded and the entry and exit of people and materials from these bridges are strictly monitored. It seems that the fence of Leishui moat is better than that of other airports.
