Random subwoofer specially designed for audio-visual entertainment
▲ Dark gray metal top cover
The design of ASUS N550J continues the overall style of N56. The top cover of the fuselage is made of metal, and the surface has longitudinal wire drawing texture. However, compared with the top cover of N56, the color of N550J changed to dark gray, and the plastic part of the top cover of N56 where the wireless antenna was placed disappeared. The whole top cover is made of a piece of metal material, which has stronger integrity.
▲ Touch is not supported.
In order to bring better visual effects, ASUS N550J provides 15.6 inches 1920? 1080 resolution IPS wide viewing angle panel display screen, official data show that the screen can cover 72% of NTSC color gamut, with delicate picture and rich color expression. However, unlike the previous generation N56, N550J did not continue to use frosted screen, but turned to the same screen design as most touch-screen notebooks. The whole screen is covered with a whole piece of glass, but the N550J sent for testing does not support the touch function, but it does not rule out that a version equipped with a touch screen will be launched in the future.
▲ Just give a SonicMaster subwoofer.
Due to the limitation of the size of the fuselage, no matter what technology is used in the audio system of the notebook, the ideal effect can not be achieved. In order to create a more complete auditory experience, ASUS N-series audio-visual notebook comes with SonicMaster subwoofer, which is plugged into the special interface on the left. When playing outdoors, it can enhance the sense of low frequency and make the sound more round and full.
The keyboard is slightly changed, and the speaker position is set at the front end.
▲ The keyboard surface adopts CNC technology.
Structurally, ASUS N550J continues the back-mounted keyboard of N56. The keyboard shell is a whole piece of metal, and all the holes on it are drilled one by one by CNC drill. Compared with the general notebook splicing design, this integrated keyboard surface will bring higher manufacturing cost, and of course it will also bring more beautiful appearance and higher strength.
▲ Silver white keycap
In terms of color matching, N550J boldly uses the same silver color for the keycap and keyboard shell. Although this design lacks the visual impact of black and white, it makes the N550J look more scientific and technological.
▲ Chocolate keyboard
In terms of feel, the chocolate keyboard equipped with N550J has moderate resilience and keystrokes, reasonable distance between keys and caps, and the keystrokes are better than ordinary chocolate keyboards. Moreover, the chocolate keyboard belt of ASUS N550J also has a backlight function, and the brightness of the backlight can be manually adjusted by shortcut keys on the keyboard, which is very user-friendly.
▲ Small dots are used as decorations.
Perhaps it is because the pure silver white looks too monotonous. The top of the ASUS N550J keyboard is decorated with regular dots centered on the power keys and function keys on the left and right sides. However, unlike the N56, the speaker on the N550J fuselage has moved to the front of the fuselage, so there is no hole hidden in the dot for the speaker to release.
▲ Wide integrated touchpad
The touchpad of ASUS N550J has been carefully adjusted, and its huge use area not only brings convenience to multi-touch operation, but also provides smoother touch, sensitive response and accurate positioning, which greatly reduces our dependence on the mouse.
▲ Interface configuration
On both sides of the fuselage, ASUS N550J provides three USB3.0 interfaces, 1 HDMI interface, 1 Mini DP interface, 1 RJ45 network interface and headphones &; Microphone composite interface and subwoofer special interface fully meet the daily use requirements.
▲ The bottom of the fuselage is also made of metal.
Flip the bottom of the fuselage. Compared with N56, the bottom chassis of N550J is upgraded to metal, and the bottom chassis can be removed by unscrewing the surrounding screws. As can be seen from the figure below, the N550J adopts double cooling fans, and four speakers are provided at the front of the fuselage.
▲ Unscrew the screws and remove the bottom shell.
▲ There are 4 speakers on the front of the fuselage.
Upgrade to the latest Core I7 processor and provide 16GB of memory.

ASUS N550J is equipped with Intel's fourth-generation Core i7- 4700HQ quad-core eight-thread processor, and uses NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M discrete graphics card, 16GB memory and 750GB mechanical hard disk. The hardware part of the whole machine is quite powerful, and its performance is very exciting.
◆ 4th Generation Intel Core i7- 4700HQ
According to Intel's official instructions, on the mobile platform, the fourth-generation Core processor adds the H series on the basis of the third-generation M, U and Y series. This series focuses on portability and high performance, and has four physical cores. The top model will be equipped with the most powerful Iris Pro graphics card in Intel's fourth-generation Core processor.
▲CPUID
However, the ASUS N550J tested this time is equipped with an independent display screen, so instead of using the H-series processor with Iris Pro graphics card, I chose the i7-4700HQ integrated with HD4600 core graphics card. It has four physical cores, maximum 8-thread processing capacity, main frequency of 2.4GHz and turbo frequency of 3.4GHz, and still uses 22nm 3D transistor technology, but its power consumption is higher than that of the previous generation mainstream Core i7 quad-core processor, with TDP of 4,700.
▲CPU multithreading test results
In terms of performance, we use CINEBENCH R 10 to test ASUS N550J. The CPU test project of CINEBENCH R 10 is purely to render a high-precision 3D scene by using the processor, so as to test the processing power of single-threaded and multi-threaded CPU. Compared with the test results of the previous generation products, the fourth-generation Core i7-4700HQ is at the same level as the third-generation Core i7-3740QM in multithreading ability, with strong processing ability.
▲CINEBENCH R 1 1.5
CINEBENCH R 1 1.5 is an upgraded version of the first CINEBENCH R 10 test, and its test results are similar to those of CINEBENCH R 10. Four generations of Core i7-4700HM multi-threaded 5.46 and single-threaded 1.50 are at a high level in notebooks.
◆ Graphics card performance
▲ Field parameters
A new generation of gt 7 xxxm series graphics cards continues Kepler architecture. According to the parameters displayed in GPU-Z, the GT750M has 384 CUDA units like the GT650M, but the main frequency has been increased to 965MHz, which can be regarded as a high-frequency version of the GT650M. It has two video memory versions, DDR3 and GDDR5. The GT750M equipped with ASUS N550J provides 4GB DDR3 memory.
▲3Dmark 1 1 score
In terms of performance, the ASUS N550J equipped with Core i7-4700HQ+GT750M is11higher than the notebook equipped with the third-generation Core I7-3630QM processor +GT650M discrete graphics card by 17.7%, in which the score performance of GPU projects is improved by 20%, GT.
◆ Game measurement
▲ Settings (1920? 1080 medium)
In the actual game test, we tried ASUS N550J with Battlefield 3. Judging from the results, ASUS N550J is in 1920? At the resolution of 1080, the running frames of Battlefield 3 with medium image quality exceed 30, which basically meets the requirements of most 3D games on the market for ordinary users' notebook hardware. If the resolution is reduced to 1366? 768, the game that can run smoothly will be further expanded.
▲ The number of game frames exceeds 30.
The fuselage surface with a slightly thinner thickness has heat accumulation in a small range.
◆ Thickness and weight
▲ Thickness and weight
The body thickness of N550J is about 28mm, and the bare metal weight is 2.355kg. Compared with the traditional 15 inch notebook, N550J is indeed much thinner, but there is still a big gap compared with the ultrabook, so it is more suitable to use a backpack when going out.
◆ Surface temperature of fuselage
▲ Double cooling fan
Although the double cooling fan increases the cooling capacity, the surface temperature of N550J keyboard processor and graphics card area is high because the shell of the whole machine is made of metal and has good thermal conductivity, but the palm rest part of N550J keyboard processor is still cool, so it will feel warm in daily office, but the surface temperature of his fuselage will further rise when running games.
▲ ASUS N550J fever map
Summary:
The upgraded ASUS N550J continues the performance advantages of the previous generation N56. Equipped with the fourth-generation Core i7-4700HQ processor, 16GB memory and GT750M discrete graphics card, it fully meets the needs of home entertainment and audio-visual processing. Coupled with the full HD IPS panel display and excellent sound effects, it is a model of high-end audio-visual entertainment notebooks, but it is a pity that such high-end products do not provide touch function today with the popularity of touch screens.
