Open PDF file with preview;

Select "Save As …" under the "File" menu;

In the Quartz filter option of the Save As … dialog box, select Reduce file size.

Save the document.

When we first generate a PDF, we can reduce its size.

Note: the option of "compress PDF" exists in the print dialog box of 10.4 (Tiger) by default, but it is not directly displayed in 10.5 (Leopard). Therefore, we need to install the compressed PDF workflow to reactivate this feature.

In any program, select the "Print" menu;

In the print dialog box, click the "PDF" button and select "Compressed PDF";

Save the document.

Under 10.4 (Tiger), you can also use the filter option to compress the PDF document:

In any program, select the "Print" menu;

In the print dialog box, click Copy &; Pages drop-down list, and select "colorsync";

Click the "Shi Ying filter" drop-down list and select "Reduce file size";

Save the document.

Warning: Reducing the file size may reduce the display and print quality, and bookmarks may be lost.
