Myrica rubra was planted in Shiping County 1985. After years of trial planting and exploration, it passed the appraisal of relevant experts in the province and state on 1993, and was praised for its good quality, good taste, large pulp, small core, bright color and moderate sweetness and sourness. In the same year, the introduction was popularized in many parts of the county. Myrica rubra has become one of the irreplaceable varieties of any fruit in Shiping County. Shiping Myrica rubra was originally introduced and planted in Zhejiang, because Shiping is located near the Tropic of Cancer, with beautiful natural environment and pleasant climate. The soil and climate characteristics are suitable for the growth of Myrica rubra, so the fruit of Myrica rubra is large, slightly sour, very delicious and deeply loved by people. Every May, when Myrica rubra is ripe, tourists from Kunming, Yuxi and other places visit Shiping and taste it. Shiping bayberry is mainly sold fresh, followed by deep-processed products, mainly processing dried bayberry and bayberry wine. Shiping County is located in the south of Yunnan Province and the west of Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture. Geographical coordinates are10208' 00 "east longitude ~ 102 43' 00" north latitude 2319' 00 "~ 2406' 00". The county covers an area of 3037 square kilometers. The maximum horizontal distance from east to west is 59 kilometers, and the maximum vertical distance from north to south is 88 kilometers. (1) External sensory characteristics: The fruit of Myrica rubra in Shiping is medium-sized, irregular or oblate at maturity. Average fruit weight 10g and maximum fruit weight 16g. The pulp is soft, moderately sweet and sour, red or reddish inside, juicy, fragrant and small in core. (2) Intrinsic quality index: Shiping Myrica rubra has early maturity, storage and transportation resistance, high nutritional value, high sugar content and rich vitamins. Wherein soluble solids ≥ 10.5%, total sugar ≥9.5%, titratable acid ≥0.7%, vitamin C ≥5.0mg/ 100g juice and potassium ≥ 1500mg/kg juice. (3) Safety requirements: The indicators specified in the licenses GB2762, GB2763 and GB 10650 shall be implemented.
