Xiamen. Tongan District is one of the six districts in Xiamen. Tongan District is the largest administrative district in Xiamen, a famous hometown of overseas Chinese and the ancestral home of Taiwan Province compatriots. The existing land area is 658 square kilometers, connecting Xiang 'an District and jimei district, about 40 minutes' drive from Xiamen Island. Located at the junction of Tong 'an District and Xiang 'an District, the sea area around East China is the newly planned northern municipal center of Xiamen Municipal Government.

Xiamen, referred to as "Xiamen" or "Heron", also known as Ludao, is a sub-provincial city in Fujian Province, a city with separate plans, a China Special Economic Zone approved by the State Council, an important central city, port and scenic tourist city in the southeast coast.

Xiamen consists of Xiamen Peninsula, Gulangyu Island and many small islands, reefs and Tongan, Jimei, Haicang, Xiang 'an, Xinglin Bay, Maluan Bay and Tongan Bay, with a land area of 1699.39 square kilometers and a sea area of about 390 square kilometers. Among them, Xiamen Island covers an area of about 157.76 square kilometers (including Gulangyu Island) and is the fourth largest island in Fujian Province, with a coastline of about 234 kilometers.

Xiamen is dominated by coastal plains, terraces and hills. Xiamen's topography inclines from northwest to southeast, and there are various types of topography, including Zhongshan, low mountains, high hills, low hills, terraces, plains and beaches. There are many middle and low mountains in the northwest, among which Genting Mountain, located at the junction of Tongan and Anxi, is the highest mountain in the city with an altitude of 1 175.2 meters.
