Founded in 1938, the College was formerly known as tongren city Agricultural School, tongren city Health School, tongren city Finance School, tongren city Advanced Vocational and Technical School and tongren city Commercial Workers Secondary Vocational School. On June 25th, 2002, Guizhou Provincial Government approved the merger of Tongren Agricultural School, Finance School, Health School, Vocational School and Commercial School to form Tongren Vocational and Technical College.
