Language ability is the basic element of core literacy, cultural awareness reflects the value orientation of core literacy, thinking quality reflects the mental characteristics of core literacy, and learning ability is the key element of core literacy development. The four aspects of core literacy penetrate each other, blend and interact, and develop synergistically.
Core literacy is put forward by Chinese scholars on the basis of studying related concepts abroad and combining with the actual situation of education in China. Core literacy is the concentrated expression of curriculum education value, and it is the correct values, necessary character and key ability that students gradually form through curriculum learning to meet the needs of personal lifelong development and social development.
The goal of English course ranges from "communicative competence" to "comprehensive language use ability", and then to the core literacy goal composed of language ability, cultural awareness, thinking quality and learning ability today, which highlights our brand-new educational values. As front-line teachers, we should bear in mind that literacy idea, as the core of English, should put it into practice.
Language ability is the ability to do things with language, involving language knowledge, language awareness and sense, language skills, communication strategies and so on. Thinking quality is the ability of thinking discrimination, including analysis, reasoning, judgment, rational expression, English pluralistic thinking and other activities; Cultural awareness focuses on understanding the cultural connotations of various countries, comparing similarities and differences, absorbing the essence, respecting differences and so on; Learning ability mainly includes metacognitive strategies, cognitive strategies, communicative strategies and emotional strategies.
