Quasimodo, the bell ringer of Notre Dame de Paris, is a peculiar figure, which can be said to be an important figure to make the novel romantic. In the novel, only his heart is burning with pure love for Esmeralda. He can't express his love for her in words, but he can only show it by actions. Beggars attacked Notre Dame to protect their sister Esmeralda from being hanged in the square. Quasimodo didn't want her to leave her. A man fighting in the tower of Notre Dame, his actions far exceed those of medieval knights who rushed to vilen for their own beauty. His excitement, selflessness and despair fully revealed his inner love.
