Introduction: Conan Doyle, an outstanding British detective novelist and playwright. Born on May 22nd, 1859, his father is a civil servant of the Ministry of Construction. Conan Doyle studied in a missionary school when he was a teenager, and then studied medicine at Edinburgh University, where he received his doctor's degree from 65438 to 0885. Later, he started practicing medicine in the southwest. However, he has a strong interest in literature, especially reading the works of edgar allan poe, the originator of detective novels, and constantly contributing to Cornhill magazine. Conan Doyle's creative path is not smooth. 1in April, 886, he wrote the first detective novel "adventures of sherlock holmes —— A Study of Blood Characters" and sent it to the editor-in-chief of Cornhill magazine. The answer is "too long as a short story, but too short as a book", so it cannot be published. Then he gave it to Frederick Horn and arrowsmith, and returned it without reading it. Later, he sent it to Ward Locke Publishing Company and wrote back: "This story can't be published immediately. If you are willing to leave us the manuscript, we will be selected in 1887 Beaton Christmas Yearbook. " In this way, this work was finally published in 1887.

Sherlock Holmes immediately aroused people's interest in a study on the word blood. After the editor of lippincott magazine got the novel, Conan Doyle continued to write a detective story about Sherlock Holmes, so 1890 published Four Signs. Be a great success. 189 1 year, Conan Doyle decided to give up medicine and start writing. Since July, 189 1, 12 Sherlock Holmes detective novels, such as The Scandal in Bohemia, have been published in the seaside magazine, and 1892 has been included in Adventure History. At the end of 1892, 12 Sherlock Holmes stories, which started with the silver horse, were published one after another. 1894, these 12 stories were compiled into memoirs and published. At this time, Conan Doyle wanted to stop writing such stories, so he let Holmes fall into the rapids and drown.

However, because his works condemn all kinds of crimes and immoral behaviors and advocate the idea that good and evil are rewarded and the law cannot escape, it has caused a psychological buzz among the general public. Sherlock Holmes, as a literary phenomenon, has been deeply rooted in people's hearts. Readers feel sorry for the death of Sherlock Holmes, and even threaten and insult the author. 1903, Conan Doyle saved Sherlock Holmes from death with his rich knowledge in the story "The Empty House", and then wrote four groups of Sherlock Holmes stories such as Return and uncanny valley. Because all the stories are centered on Sherlock Holmes, it was later called The Complete Works of Sherlock Holmes.

Conan Doyle died on 1930. His main literary achievement is to create the literary image of Sherlock Holmes. Although his works lack profound and real social significance, they are popular in Europe and have a wide influence in the world because of their thrilling plot, precise structure and fascinating ups and downs.

Now the shaping of Sherlock Holmes has become a household name all over the world. Holmes's office has also become a tourist attraction. The logical reasoning of the work is fascinating, the structure is ups and downs, and the characters are vivid, which involves the social reality of Britain at that time. Regarding his artistic achievements, the famous British novelist Mao Mu once said: "Compared with the Complete Works of Sherlock Holmes written by Conan Doyle, no detective novel has ever enjoyed such a great reputation." Conan Doyle is known as "the father of English detective stories" and is one of the best-selling writers in the world.
