Hengbao Battle Martyrs Memorial Tower is located in Zhangfeiling, Wu Si Village, Huangtupu Town, Qidong County, Hengyang City.
From September 1949 to October 10, the main forces of the Fourth Field Army and the Second Field Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army carried out an offensive strategy against the Kuomintang Bai Chongxi Department in Hengyang and Baoqing (now Shaoyang) areas of Hunan Province. In Qidong today, the battles between Huangtupu 135 Division, Yangjiaqiao19 Division, Huangtupu Southwest 405 Regiment, Huangtupu Lumen Village 404 Regiment and Shitingzi Qiutangping 12 1 Division are quite fierce, especially the attack of Huangtupu Movement. Liaojia Village in Hongqiao Town is the location of the rear hospital of China People's Liberation Army. Nine soldiers, including battalion commander Jin Chen Chao, died because of ineffective treatment. The facilities of the martyrs' tomb were built in the 1990s.
In order to commemorate the revolutionary martyrs who died in the Battle of Hengbao, the People's Government of Qidong County built the Martyrs Monument in 2005. In July 2009, some officers and men from jinan military area command came here to commemorate and experience the war that year, which had a great influence.
The Martyrs Memorial Tower of Hengbao Battle was announced as the patriotic education base of Hengyang City by the Propaganda Department of Hengyang Municipal Committee on May 20 10.
