Compendium of Materia Medica Volume 12 Atractylodes Rhizome Dryness and Spleen Strengthening

Xu Quan's Micro-skill Fang Yun: 30 years of bitter drinking. At first, teenagers sat and wrote at night, so they fell to the left, so they ate too much and fell to the left. I must have a few drinks in the middle of the night and then lie down to the left. Don't feel when you are strong. After three or five years, I felt that drinking stopped from the left, and my stomach pain reduced the noise. I'll give up drinking for half a cup. Ten days later, I will spit out several liters of sour water. In the summer months, there is sweat on the right and no sweat on the left. I have visited famous doctors and maritime parties all over the world, and sometimes I get sick and have to work for more than a month. ..... It is known that all drugs are screened, only one catty of Rhizoma Atractylodis is peeled and sliced into powder, half a cup of sesame oil is added with two glasses of water, and 50 pieces of jujube are boiled, peeled and pitted, and pounded into the size of a ball. Take 50 capsules with warm air every day, and increase it to one or two hundred capsules. Avoid peaches, plums and sparrows, and go there in March. Compendium of Materia Medica, Volume 12, operating "Atractylodes lancea, Inventing"

Regarding the dampness and spleen strengthening of Atractylodes lancea, Compendium of Materia Medica records such a story:

Once upon a time, there was a man named Xu who was honored as a great doctor in the Song Dynasty. According to legend, as a teenager, Uncle Wei was extremely diligent and slept until late at night every day. Maybe I have the habit of drinking before going to bed, probably taking the folk proverb "A sip of wine before going to bed can live ninety-nine" to keep healthy with wine! This habit lasted for 30 years and gradually developed the habit of drinking. A few years later, he always felt his stomach rumbling, his hypochondriac pain, his diet decreased, and he vomited some bitter and sour gastric juice every ten days and a half. Every summer, his left side doesn't sweat, only his right side sweats. What strange disease is this?

Xu doesn't know. He went everywhere for treatment, but it didn't work to find a famous doctor. He was very upset. Finally, Xu abandoned the creed of "medical autonomy" and began to save himself. He made a careful analysis of his illness and thought that his illness was mainly caused by "dampness blocking the stomach". Therefore, according to his consistent academic thought of "taking refined medicine", he chose Atractylodes as the main medicine, made small pills with Atractylodes powder 1 kg, 50 pieces of jujube and half of sesame oil, and insisted on taking 50 pills every day. Later, the dosage was gradually increased, and 100 200 capsules were taken every day. Avoid peaches, plums and sparrow meat. It will be fine after eating for three months. This shows that Atractylodes lancea has the effect of drying dampness and strengthening spleen.

Atractylodes lancea, also known as Shanjing, Shu Chi, Maji, Qingshu and Shu Xian, is the dried stem of Atractylodes lancea or Atractylodes chinensis, a perennial herb of Compositae. Atractylodes lancea is mainly distributed in Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei, Sichuan and other places, and it is widely cultivated, but the quality of Atractylodes lancea produced in Maoshan, Jiangsu Province is the best, so it is named Atractylodes lancea. Atractylodes macrocephala is mainly distributed in Northeast China, North China and Shaanxi, Ningxia, Gansu, Shandong, Henan and other northern regions, hence the name Atractylodes macrocephala. China is widely planted in medicine nurseries. Wild in hillside grasslands, forests, shrubs and rock crevices. You can dig in spring and autumn, and the quality is the best after autumn. The quality of Atractylodes lancea pieces is solid, and there are many cinnabar spots on the cross section, with rich aroma. It is generally believed that the quality of Atractylodes lancea is better.

The difference between Atractylodes lancea and Atractylodes lancea;

Description: Atractylodes lancea is irregular beaded or nodular cylindrical, with grayish brown surface, solid texture, yellowish white or grayish white cross section, and scattered with many orange or brownish red oil chambers. The cross section of Rhizoma Atractylodis is yellowish white or grayish white after slicing, and there are very obvious orange or brownish red oil cavities scattered, commonly known as "cinnabar spots". White needle-like crystals will precipitate on the surface of Atractylodes lancea pieces exposed to air for a long time, commonly known as "frosting". Many people think that medicinal materials will be moldy if they are kept for a long time, but they are not. This is a normal phenomenon. Atractylodes lancea has a strong aroma, with many "cinnabar spots" on its cross section, good quality and slightly sweet, pungent and bitter taste. Compared with Atractylodes lancea, Atractylodes lancea is massive, with loose texture and yellowish brown oil cavities, that is, "cinnabar spots", but the number is small and there is no white needle-like crystal precipitation. Atractylodes lancea has a faint aroma and a bitter taste.

Active ingredients: Although they are all Rhizoma Atractylodis, their contents are different. The content of volatile oil in rhizome of Atractylodes lancea is 5%-9%, and the content of volatile oil in rhizome of Atractylodes lancea is 65438 0.5% (the main components of volatile oil are the mixture of Atractylol, β-cineole and Curcumol), in addition to atractylone and Atractylodin. And the content varies from place to place.

There is also a kind of Atractylodes lancea distributed in Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Hebei and other places. Some areas are mixed with Atractylodes lancea as medicine, which is not included in the Pharmacopoeia. Pay attention to the distinction. The rhizome of Atractylodes Guan is mostly nodular and cylindrical with a dark brown surface. The texture is loose, the cross section is uneven, the fiber is firm, and there are net cracks or small holes. The difference between Guan Atractylodes and the other two medicinal Atractylodes specified in Pharmacopoeia is that its cross section has no oil spots, because the smell mainly comes from oil spots, so Guan Atractylodes has a special smell but a light taste.

Atractylodes lancea is widely used in modern clinic, mainly in the following aspects:

1. Dampness blocks the spleen and stomach, which can cause abdominal distension, loss of appetite, lassitude, and thick and greasy tongue coating. It is often used with Cortex Magnolia Officinalis and Pericarpium Citri Tangerinae.

2. It can be used with Radix Angelicae Dahuricae for treating cold and dampness.

3. It can be used together with Huangbai, Achyranthes bidentata, and Anyhow if the foot and knee are swollen and painful due to damp-heat betting.

4. It is especially suitable for cold-dampness arthralgia, and can be used with Notopterygium root and Radix Angelicae Pubescentis.

5. Used for headache, body pain and anhidrosis caused by wind, cold and dampness. It is often used with Notopterygium, Asari and Fangfeng.

6. This product also has the function of improving eyesight. It is an important drug for the treatment of night blindness. Can be matched with pig liver, sheep liver and concha Haliotidis.

In addition, this product has a fragrant smell and can eliminate dirt. During the Dragon Boat Festival in the summer, people burn Atractylodes lancea and Artemisia argyi indoors to prevent epidemics. Close experiments show that this method can really inhibit and kill viruses and bacteria. Therefore, Atractylodes lancea is also widely used in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. In the diagnosis and treatment plan of COVID-19 announced by National Health Commission and the Bureau of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Atractylodes lancea was taken orally to treat lung obstruction caused by cold and dampness in early stage in COVID-19, lung obstruction caused by epidemic virus in middle stage in COVID-19, prevention of COVID-19 1 by Hubei Health and Health Commission, and prevention of novel coronavirus in the First Hospital of Guangyi. In this method of external use (fumigation or sachet) to prevent COVID-19, the external use of traditional Chinese medicine to prevent novel coronavirus (indoor fumigation or grinding into sachet to wear) and indoor fumigation and burning of Atractylodes rhizome and Artemisia argyi powder are also used repeatedly.

Chinese medicine believes that Atractylodes lancea is pungent, bitter and warm. Enter spleen, stomach and liver meridians. It can dry dampness, strengthen spleen, dispel wind and cold, and improve eyesight. Used for abdominal distension, diarrhea, edema, beriberi, rheumatism, common cold, night blindness and blurred vision. Atractylodes lancea has a strong ability of dispersing bitterness and moistening dryness, transforming dryness into turbidity, strengthening the spleen, and expelling wind and dampness from outside to dispel cold (internal dampness and external dampness). The winner of rheumatism arthralgia syndrome is dampness, which is especially suitable for those with exogenous wind, cold and dampness. As for its efficacy, "Compendium of Materia Medica" says: "Treating dampness, phlegm, blood stasis, spleen dampness, turbid discharge and diarrhea." "Root-seeking Materia Medica" contains: "Stop water and diarrhea, eat summer to stop diarrhea, spleen dampness and bleeding." "Medicated Jade Sorbus" contains: "Dry the soil to benefit water, drain and remove phlegm, remove blood stasis and relieve depression, leak, remove tinea, remove symptoms, remove acid rot, open mountains and rivers, restore weakness of bones and muscles, and clear the turbidity of drowning." These herbal works clearly describe the efficacy and application of Atractylodes lancea. Modern research shows that the rhizome of Atractylodes lancea contains volatile oil, which consists of a mixture of atractyl alcohol, β -eucalyptol and curcumol, in addition to atractylone and atractyl. Pharmacological studies show that Rhizoma Atractylodis has the functions of regulating gastrointestinal motility, resisting ulcer, protecting liver, resisting bacteria and viruses, promoting bile secretion and inhibiting uterine smooth muscle movement. At the same time, it also has certain hypoglycemic, anti-hypoxia, central inhibition, anti-tumor, promoting bone calcification and cardiovascular effects.
