Appreciation of Dong Feng's Biography
Textual research on the life of Dong Feng, a medical scientist.

Dong Feng was a famous doctor in ancient Fujian during the Three Kingdoms period. Shizai is from Houguan County. In ancient times, Hou Guan had a wide jurisdiction and had the territory of Changle and other counties in the lower reaches of Minjiang River. After investigation, Dong Feng is actually from Changle County. His life has been recorded in the annals of Changle County in past dynasties. There are different records about his life in ancient books. In ancient times, people had profound medical skills, and those who could come back to life were regarded as "immortals" for the dying. Dong Feng is very good at showing Qi Huang, and many people are alive, so he is worshipped by people of his time. In addition, his descendants described and rendered it and attached myths, so he was regarded as a "fairy-like" figure. Old books classified him as Fang Zhuan or Shi Dao Zhuan. However, his story of "Xinglin" has been circulated among the people for more than 1000 years. Today, we compile new records, collect people who have benefited the people and contributed to medical life in history, remove the dross contained in ancient books, strip off the cloak of myth, return him to his true colors, and call him a doctor. We can make a special biography for him in local records, which seems to be consistent with the style of local records. But to rewrite a character's biography, we must check his life and delete the places that are inconsistent with historical facts and facts; Everything that should be corrected, even if it has been wrongly recorded for thousands of years, must be resolutely corrected.

There is no official record of Dong Feng's life story. His life was first recorded in Ge Hong's Biography of Immortals. Ge Hong (28 1 ~ 364) was born in Jurong (now Jiangsu) in the Western Jin Dynasty, a Taoist theorist, a famous doctor and a alchemist. He is not good at cultivating immortals, and he has written books such as Bao Puzi, Biography of Immortals, and Synopsis of the Golden Chamber. There are many Taoist figures recorded in fairy tales, so it is certainly not credible to say that myths and paranormal. This book was published after the Eastern Jin Dynasty. There are many editions in previous dynasties, such as Han and Wei Series, Siku Quanshu, Shuoyue, and Five Dynasties Novels, which are not easy to read. Due to thousands of years' history, there are inevitably inaccuracies in the clear edition of Shanghai ancient books, which is popular in the market today, but the facts contained in it are basically the same, including Dong Fengzhuan. Today, the credible stories about his life and the anecdotes of Xinglin are as follows:

"Dong Feng, jun, hou officer person. When Wu Xian was in power, a young man served as a county magistrate, watching him serve for more than forty years. After being dismissed from office, he returned to his post for more than 50 years and passed the post. Officials are old and look as good as before. Q:' Did you get the news?' ? I've seen you like this before. I am the leader now, but you are not enough. Why? "Feng Yue:' accidental ear'. Du Xie, a former secretariat of Jiaozhou, died of poisoning. He stayed there for three days after his death. He took three pills, put them in his mouth, filled them with water, and let people shake their heads. In a blink of an eye, my hands and feet are moving and my color is gradually recovering. I can sit for half a day and talk once every four days. After that, he stayed at Lushan Mountain in Zhang Yu. Living in the mountains, not farming, treating people every day, not taking money. Those who have recovered from a serious illness will plant five apricots, one of which is lighter. Five years later, more than 100,000 plants became forests. They made a straw barn in the forest when the apricot trees were in full bloom. When they appeared, they said,' Those who want to buy apricots don't need to provide them, but put a can of grain in the barn and buy a can of apricots.' People often buy less food and take more apricots. The tiger in the forest yelled at them, which was terrible, just slapping the apricots away. Capsize by the roadside, measure apricots at home, just like the number of valleys. I take an apricot every year to help the poor, and I have no money to travel. I'm over twenty thousand years old. "

The above is the most original record of Dong Feng's life, in which there is no date of birth and death, which shows that it was impossible to verify it at that time. It is possible for Dong Feng to keep in good health. It is possible that he looks like a prime of life in his 90 s, and it is possible to cure people who have died for three days (modern medicine is called "suspended animation"). He has superb medical skills and noble medical ethics. Patients don't take medical fees, but only plant five or one apricot. It is especially commendable that apricots are sold to help the poor when they are ripe. This kind of attitude towards others and helping the needy is really admirable. There was such a great medical scientist in ancient Fujian, so it is unreasonable to preach and teach for him, publicize his good deeds and spread his high winds.

Many people in the past dynasties reprinted Ge Hong's Biography of Immortals, but the content changed little and the records were basically the same. I also checked the Siku Wen Yuan Pavilion and the first volume of the fourth part of the Taipei notebook novel Grand View, which is the same.

There is no textual research on the specific year of Dong Feng's birth and death in ancient books. The legend of the immortals records that he lived for more than 300 years, which is not credible, but the time when Dong Feng lived can be searched. There is a sentence "Wu Zhuxian's family" in the biography, which proves that he is a native of the Three Kingdoms. "Wu" is the place where Sun Quan (182 ~ 252) was enfeoffed in the south of the Yangtze River. Sun Quan built Wu and was controlled by Jing, Yang and Jiao. Jiaozhou (now Guangdong, Guangxi and southern Vietnam) and Yangzhou (now Fujian and other places) are all territories of Wu. Dong Feng lived when Sun Quan was alive. As for Dong Feng's treatment of Du Xie's disease, the name of "Du Xie" is wrong. At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Jiaozhou, whose real name was Jiaotoe, was promoted to a state at the beginning of Jian 'an (196 ~ 198), governing seven counties. Jiaozhou was a remote area at that time, which was beyond the reach of the imperial court and was only nominally detained. In the 13th year of Jian 'an (208), after Battle of Red Cliffs, Cao Cao's troops withdrew northward, and Sun Quan took the opportunity to occupy Jiaozhou. At the end of Sun Quan's life, there were only Shi Xie and Bu Qiao as the chief executives of Jiaozhou, and Du Xie in Dong Feng's biography should be the mistake of Shi Xie. There is a biography of Shi Xie in the History of the Three Kingdoms and the History of Martial Arts, which records relevant deeds as evidence:

"Shi Xie word Wei Yan, Cangwu Guangxin people also. My father gave it to me. I was the southern satrap of Japan when I was Emperor Huan. After Cai Mao's death, Xie Ju was removed from the guide and moved to the toe satrap. Corporal Xie is generous and modest, and hundreds of people have taken refuge in China. A county was saved in the chaos, and no one was unemployed for more than 20 years. People who travel are famous. The Han Dynasty wrote a letter to Xie saying:' The country has diplomatic relations, and there are rivers and seas in the south, which are hidden in Shangen and separated from Xiayi. Today, Xie is the southern governor of Suiyuan, in charge of seven counties, and the leader remains the same. "In the fifteenth year of Jian 'an (2 10), Sun Quan sent Bu Wei as the secretariat of Jiaozhou, and Xie inherited the festival, and the right was left to the general. He was in the county seat in his forties and died in Huang Wu for five years (226 years) at the age of 90. "

According to this, when Sun Quan was in power, there was no evil of Du, only evil of Shi, and his official titles were General Zuo and a cross-toe satrap. The reflection praises history and is the biography of this article. Although there is nothing related to Dong Feng, in the Liu and Song Dynasties of the Southern Dynasties, historian Pei Songzhi added a note in Biography of Stone Evil (see page 1 192 of Wuzhi published by Zhonghua Book Company), quoting Ge Hong's Biography of Immortals:

"Xie died three days ago, and Dong Feng took a pill of fairy clothes, washed it with water and shook it with his head. You can start with your eyes when you eat, and the color will slowly recover. I can sit up in half a day, and I can talk again after four days and return to normal. Different words, officials also. "

The so-called immortal is a doctor who can bring back the dead. According to this record, Dong Feng received the treatment of stone evil, not Du evil. Pei Songzhi's time is not far from the Western Jin Dynasty, and the reference to The Legend of Immortals is correct. Later, it was copied, and "stone evil" became "Du evil", with some myths attached.

I initially explored that this mistake started from the Northern Song Dynasty at the latest. I have read the deeds recorded in Volume 12 of Tai Ping Guang Ji published by Zhonghua Book Company 196 1, and the contents are basically the same as today's Shanghai edition. The patient is still Du Xie. The textual research of Taiping Guangji was written in the period of Taiping Xingguo in the Northern Song Dynasty (976 ~ 983). According to the punctuation in the preface by Zhonghua Book Company, this book is based on an old Ming edition of Janice, and is collated according to the residual Song edition. Then the mistake of "Du Xie" originated in the Northern Song Dynasty. After that, all the quotations from the engraved editions of the past dynasties were used without change. For example, Ganlong's Fujian Tongzhi and Fuzhou Fuzhi are all exempt from this. This misinformation has been circulating for thousands of years, not to mention the newly printed Changle County Records and People's Records today.

The first draft of the newly printed Changle County Records and Figures is Dong Feng. In addition to following the mistake of Du Xie, there is another way to write this biography:

"Dong Feng, also known as Dong Ping, was born in Dong Qian Village (now Qingshan Village, Guhuai Township, Changle County). Han Jian 'an was born in five years (200). Dong Feng studied medicine since childhood and believed in Taoism. ..... Once I went to Jiaozhou (now Guangdong) to practice medicine, I happened to meet Du Xie, the prefect of Jiaozhou, and was critically ill for three days. Dong Feng put three pills in the patient's mouth. Then fill it with water. ................................................................................................................................................. .................. Dong Feng lived in Du Xie's mansion. Soon after, Du Xie conspired against the court, worried that Dong Feng would reveal his plot and wanted to harm Dong Feng. Dong Feng played dead with Qigong, cheated Du Xie and ran away. ..... Wu Tianji four years (280), Dong Feng died. "

Besides following the mistake of "Du Xie", the article also notes that during Dong Feng's birth and death years, the nominal age only lived to 8 1 year, which is quite different from what was recorded in The Legend of the Immortals. I don't know why. Shi Xie (the so-called Du Xie) is a positive figure. He has made remarkable achievements in developing the frontier, stabilizing society and uniting ethnic minorities, and won the support of local people. He died at the age of 90, which can be found in Wu Zhi. Did he resist the court? Murder Dong Feng? I don't know what this statement is based on.

"Changle County Records" was compiled once in the Republic of China, and "Dong Fengchuan" only said: "Dong Feng's ancestral home is under the castle peak of the eleventh capital, and he is from the Three Kingdoms. The peak road is green and the mountain is named after it. " There is no record of birth and death in the biography, and there is no case that Du Xie rebelled against the imperial court. The record of the new chronicle should be based on another foundation.

In my humble opinion, the key to writing a biography is to respect historical facts and have reliable data, and then talk about the position and text structure, and avoid innovation. At the same time, we should also refer to the relevant chronicles of past dynasties to learn from each other's strengths, so as to write a more detailed biography.

Stone evil has long been mistaken for "Du evil". In Chen Yan's Fujian Tongzhi Dong Fengzhuan, attention has been paid to correction, and the main points are as follows:

Dong Fengzi is different from Jun, and Hou is an official. ..... JIAOZHOU satrap Shi Xie has been dead for three days. When he was in the south, he put three pills in his mouth and lived for four days. That is to present a tall building in the court. I don't eat or drink, only feed dates ... The stone association is 1990 to 1999. "

Chen Yan is worthy of being a master of local chronicles, and he resolutely corrected the mistakes of the Millennium. His Biography of Tongzhi in Fujian in the Republic of China mostly follows the old records, but this biography does not attack the predecessors, which is brilliant. However, Chen Yan added a note at the end of the biography of Dong Feng, and the biography of Li Xian Taiping Magnolia quoted the biography of Mrs. Wei of Nanyue, which was really redundant. And leads out by mistake. According to the legend of immortals, it was written by Han and Liu Xiang, who was a human being when he proclaimed himself emperor. How can he predict the current affairs of the Three Kingdoms? The author also checked the stories of Dong Feng published by Hanfang Louben and Siyuan Pavilion in the Commercial Press, including Taiping Yulan, Daobuliu Section and Guobuliu Apricot, but there was no mention of the stipulation of the secretariat of Jiaozhou. Thus, Chen Yan still corrected the old mistakes according to The History of the Three Kingdoms, Wu Zhi and Shi Xie, so all the materials quoted in the biographies must be identified.
