It is said that in the late Qing Dynasty (early Republic of China), Liu Xiucai, who was kind-hearted, sold wool in the city. Unfortunately, he was caught in a downpour and went to stay in an inn called Fang Qiong, but the innkeeper refused to forgive the customers. Liu Xiucai pleaded repeatedly, and Fang Qiong's boss reluctantly took him to the woodshed. In the middle of the night, Liu Xiucai found a young woman sitting at the door wearing light makeup. When she was frightened to disgrace, she realized that it was the ghost of Liao Xiaoqiao, a prostitute, who was abandoned by a sad man named Zhao Huaian. Begging Liu Xiucai to help him get revenge, Liu hid it in an oil-paper umbrella and took it to Guangchanglong, a prosperous shop in Huai 'an, Zhao. Liao Xiaoqiao broke free from his umbrella and strangled Zhao Huaian with a red bow to avenge himself.
