Rosa roxburghii is a unique wild resource in Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and Western Sichuan Plateau. It is mainly produced in Guizhou and western Hunan, followed by Yunnan, and also distributed in Liangshan, northern Sichuan and eastern Sichuan in western Sichuan. In addition, Guilin Town, Tongnan County, Chongqing has a long history of aquaculture and is still widely distributed in mountainous areas. It is called "thorn pear" and "pineapple thorn pear" by locals. This kind of green resource has not been well developed and utilized, which is a great neglect of the selfless gift of nature.

The distribution and development are as follows:

Bijie, Liupanshui and Tongren in Guizhou are the most abundant areas of Rosa roxburghii resources. Anshun is now planting a seedless Rosa roxburghii, which is very popular with consumers. Guiyang, the provincial capital, is also widely distributed around. It can be said that Rosa roxburghii has a long history as a homologous variety of medicine and food in Guizhou. It has become a habit for people to eat it as fruit or use it to make wine. In the new season from August to September every year, the dried and fresh fruits of Rosa roxburghii can be seen in the streets and alleys, and some manufacturers regard it as "the sacred fruit of Yanhuang" to develop and produce drinks and enter the supermarket. Rosa roxburghii is cheap and good.

Rosa roxburghii was planted in Kaifeng, Henan Province from 1993. Compared with the southwest planting area, the harvest season of Rosa roxburghii is about one month earlier, and it will be harvested in dog days from July to August. It is the main producing area of Rosa roxburghii dried fruit.

There are also abundant wild Rosa roxburghii resources in Xiangxi, Hunan Province, which are mainly distributed in some towns and villages in Fenghuang, Baojing, Jishou, Guzhang, Yongshun and Longshan. Before 2000, there were about 4 million plants in Quanzhou, with an annual output of more than 500,000 kilograms. Rosa roxburghii is mainly used to produce various Rosa roxburghii drinks, such as Rosa roxburghii juice, Rosa roxburghii royal jelly, Rosa roxburghii wine, Rosa roxburghii cola, Rosa roxburghii soda and so on, because of its rich vitamin C content and unique flavor. It can also be used to produce preserved Rosa roxburghii, canned Rosa roxburghii, Rosa roxburghii jam, etc.

Liangshan, Sichuan has always had a history of boiling Rosa roxburghii (removing thorns, removing seeds, mashing juice, adding a little salt, which is delicious) and soaking in wine. Some areas in Xichang and Mianning have developed local characteristic enterprises mainly focusing on thorn pear drinks, fruit juice and thorn wine.

Lichuan City, Enshi Autonomous Prefecture, Hubei Province and other valley areas are widely distributed. Generally, wild fruits are edible, but so far, they have not been developed.
