Lack of scientific and technological knowledge and experience: Compared with young people, the elderly have relatively little scientific and technological knowledge and experience, and may not be alert to new telecom fraud methods and are easily deceived.
Easy to trust strangers: Old people are usually kind, trust strangers and are easily used by scammers. Some swindlers will pretend to be relatives and friends, public security and bank staff to defraud the trust of the elderly.
Limited social experience: the social environment experienced by the elderly is relatively simple, and they may not know enough about some scams and are easily deceived.
Vulnerable to loneliness and fear: many old people live alone at home and feel lonely and afraid easily. Liars will use these emotions to cheat by telephone, text messages and so on.
Therefore, because of certain limitations and weaknesses in scientific and technological knowledge and experience, social experience and interpersonal communication, the elderly are easy to be used by scammers and become the target of telecom fraud.
