Did the ancients talk about the adaptation of daily life to the 24 solar terms?
Laozi, a famous health care practitioner in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, put forward the philosophical viewpoint of "man and place, land with the sky, sky with the Tao, and Tao with nature" in Tao Te Ching, which laid a theoretical foundation for four-season health care. "Lu's Spring and Autumn Annals" has a clear exposition on adapting to the four-season climate change: "Being born with yin and yang, cold and hot, dry and wet, makes things change in four seasons, and everything is beneficial and harmful. Saints should keep the yin and yang suitable, and distinguish the benefits of everything in order to live a long life." Longevity means "not short and discontinuous, but enough", which means that people can enjoy life to the best of their ability.

During the Han and Tang Dynasties, many outstanding health experts appeared, such as Hua Tuo, Tao Hongjing, Sun Simiao and Chen Xiyi. They all have incisive exposition on the theory of four seasons health preservation and put forward many more specific methods of four seasons health preservation. For example, Hua Tuo's "Han Zang Jing" put forward the view that "Yin and Yang rise and fall together, and the new creation is more endless, and people can learn from it", which created the exercise method of Wuqinxi; Sun Simiao's Qian Jin Fang Yao and Qian Jin Fang Yi recorded various specific methods of eating, medicine and surgery. Chen Xiyi, a Taoist priest in the late Tang Dynasty, created twenty-four Qi-inducing sitting exercises, which originated from the change of Yin and Yang at four seasons and the theory of the five elements' attachment. The exercise is arranged according to the change of 24 solar terms in a year, which is in line with the principle of "harmony between man and nature". This set of exercises was quite popular in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and many health preserving works were recorded.

During the Song and Yuan Dynasties, a large number of health experts emerged, including four famous doctors in Jin and Yuan Dynasties, Qiu Chuji and Wang. They have written a large number of health-preserving monographs, such as "Family Letters for the Aged", "Taking Health-preserving Newspaper" and "Taiding Health-preserving Main Theory", etc., which have inherited and developed the four-season health-preserving thought in Huangdi Neijing and improved the theory and method of four-season health-preserving day by day, especially in the aspects of diet therapy and medication. For example, in the Song Dynasty, Chen Zhi wrote 162 prescriptions for nourishing food, pointing out that "stomach qi is the foundation of the four seasons" and clearly put forward the regulating and maintaining role of diet in the changes of yin and yang in the four seasons: "The integration of yin and yang and the coexistence of five elements are all due to diet". His exposition promoted the popularization and development of four-season food supplement.

Ming and Qing dynasties are the heyday of four seasons health preservation, which has made great development in theory and method. Four essentials of comprehensive health preservation, Gao Lian's Eight Notes on Respect for Life, Gong Tingxian's Shou Shi Bao Yuan, Cao Tingdong's Grandma Chang Hua, etc. This paper summarizes the experience and achievements of four-season health preservation in detail, which is not only innovative in theory, but also plays a great role in promoting the popularization of health preservation and promoting people's health and longevity.
