How to judge whether you are yang deficiency or yin deficiency,
The following contents are my notes from the TV lecture given by Professor Fu Jieying from Guangdong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, hoping to help you. You can also find it online. Very enlightening.

yang deficiency constitution

Lack of true yang, fear of cold, especially the back and abdomen, pale face, abdomen three inches below the navel.

Features:

Life is not enough, hair is not thick, urine is much (at night), and diarrhea occurs. The tongue is tender and fat. Yang deficiency is easy to gain weight, hair loss (hair is the external manifestation of kidney), poor sleep is easy to be frightened, irregular menstruation (delayed menstruation, dysmenorrhea), frigidity (male impotence and premature ejaculation), acne, upper heat and lower cold, yang deficiency will also have spots, and it is easy to get sick.

Reason:

Parents inherit or get married late, drink too much cold food during pregnancy, have too much sex, and work environment often comes into contact with cold water or frozen places.

Nursing:

Take advantage of the trend (eating mutton and dog meat alone can't make up for it), and properly warm the yang. Don't eat more cold and frozen food, don't drink green tea, drink black tea. Bitter gourd can be cooked and eaten in summer. Meat can be eaten: mutton, dog meat and beef. In addition, you can eat walnuts and various nuts. Mutton warming can eat angelica and ginger mutton soup. Replenish qi and blood, stir-fry shrimps or walnuts with leeks. Do more outdoor sports and pay attention to protecting acupoints: Baihui, Jianjing, Fengchi, Fengmen, Shenque (navel) back and neck.

yin deficiency constitution

Features:

Yin deficiency and internal heat often appear together, which is common in women and is not easy to gain weight. Five upset hot (hands and feet fever) meticulous and powerful, dry stool (one grain at a time), yellow urine. Dry eyes, dry joints, resistance to winter and summer, and less red lips.

Reasons for formation:

Heredity, long-term depression, hypertension, long-term use of antihypertensive drugs, long-term consumption of hot and dry food.
