First, the objects of worship are different.
Buddha statues enshrined in Buddhist temples, such as Sakyamuni, Maitreya and Guanyin Bodhisattva. And the Sanqing Tianzun and Zhenwu Emperor enshrined in Taoism.
Second, the training concept is different.
Monks pay attention to practice, meditate and recite scriptures all the year round, and naturally gain weight without exercise. In addition, Buddhism believes that all body hair and skin are "smelly skin", which is useless after becoming a Buddha, so they seldom exercise. Taoist priests, on the other hand, pay attention to daily cultivation and health preservation, and the coordination of yin and yang in the body naturally becomes thinner.
Third, different living habits.
The management system of Buddhism is more strict, and there are strict arrangements for doing everything in the morning, noon and evening. Moreover, monks generally live in temples and strictly control their words and deeds. Taoist management is very loose. As long as you follow the instructions, you can decide where to practice.
The main taboo of Taoism
1, Taoism believes that the altar is a place where gods descend to earth, sacred and solemn, and frivolous and filthy things and people are not allowed to enter. Taoist priests who come to the altar in person should abide by many taboos such as not drinking alcohol and not eating spiced food.
2. the taboo of "e is not true". On the day of the drought in the lunar calendar, you can't burn incense, worship God, recite scriptures, ring bells and drums, or fast. On the night before "E" Day, the sign of "E" will be hung outside the main hall to inform the public.
3. The taboo of "Tao does not say longevity". Taoism is born again, light death, and pursues immortality, so Taoists don't ask each other the age of birth. 4. In diet, Taoism believes that cows are meritorious, dogs are righteous, geese are orderly, and mullet is filial, so they should not be eaten. Quanzhen Taoist priests don't eat animal products at all.
