He was awarded "Luxun Printmaking Award" by China Printmakers Association. A considerable number of works have been collected by British Museum, Chiba Art Museum, Shanghai Art Museum, Jiangsu Art Museum, Shenzhen Art Museum, China Printmaking Museum, Qingdao Art Museum, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Library and Asia-Pacific College of University of Sydney, Australia. Teacher Zhang thinks that art is different from other disciplines, so he must put his own experience and understanding into it and draw the world in his own eyes. Therefore, it is an unrealistic wish to try to solve the metaphysical problems related to students' lifelong artistic direction in just four years. The same two words, undeniably, are the most precious things that Teacher Zhang taught his students! Relatively speaking, the distinctive personal color and social experience in the works can't be taught by teachers. This process must be experienced and grown by yourself, and we must get up in constant setbacks and go forward bravely!

Before creating works, he always asks students to take out a large number of manuscripts, and then select them, excavating the uniqueness of the works belonging to the students, and guiding students to approach their own personal work style.

He never instilled, but guided, imparting his knowledge and experience to students and integrating them into his printmaking works.
