Extended data

Changxing Island belongs to the estuary sandbar, and six small islands have been formed during the Xianfeng period. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Changxing people filled rivers with earth and built dams on six small islands. The island has a maritime climate. Due to the temperature regulation of the surrounding water bodies, it is humid and cool in summer, mild in winter, with even rainfall, fresh air, abundant sunshine and distinct seasons.

The deep-water coastline on the south bank of Changxing Island is nearly 20km, with a water depth of12m to16m, a deepest point of 22m and a width of about1000m. The water regime is stable and there is no sediment deposition, so it is suitable for building docks, port machinery, shipbuilding, ship repair and logistics transit bases. It can dock 300,000-ton ships with convenient access, which has laid a solid foundation for Changxing to develop its marine equipment industry.
