The International Classification System of Functioning, Disability and Health provides an effective and systematic tool for comprehensive analysis of physical, psychological, social and environmental factors, and has a wide range of applications, which can be applied to health, rehabilitation, social security, education, employment, human rights, scientific research, economic and human development, social policy and other fields. Specifically, it can be summarized as five aspects:
(1) statistical tools: used for data collection and coding, such as population research and disability management system;
(2) Research tools: measuring the results of health status, quality of life or environmental factors;
(3) Clinical tools: used for evaluation, such as vocational ability evaluation and rehabilitation effect evaluation;
(4) Social policy tools: used to formulate social policies such as social security plans and social insurance compensation systems;

Application field of ICF system
To understand ICF deeply, we must trace back to the source. The "father" of ICF is ICIDH, and its "grandfather" is ICD.
ICIDH is the abbreviation of international classification of injuries, disabilities and disorders, which was promulgated by the World Health Organization in 1980, and has played a great role in promoting the development of rehabilitation medicine.
However, its defect is obvious, that is, it can't fully explain the problems of people's "function" and "disability", let alone "health components"
Tissue and organ defects are divided into "injury", individual function limitation is divided into "disability" and social participation obstacle is divided into "disability". The word "disability" is difficult to accept emotionally and personally.
