Behind the beautiful scenery of Longji terraced fields in Guangxi, the real life of the local people surprised us.
This is Xiaoyu's travel diary, stop and go, and watch Guangxi with me.

Although it has become a famous scenic spot in Guangxi, the real life of the villagers living in the depths of Longji terraces still surprises us.

Behind the beautiful scenery, what we see is the shocking natural aesthetics, the crystallization of human wisdom and the hard life of people who have lived here for generations. For tourists who come in a hurry, they may only see the beautiful side of Longji terraced fields; But if we go deep into it and really measure this land with our feet, we will find that there are many unknown sorrows behind the beautiful scenery. ...

Longji Terrace is located in Longsheng Autonomous County, northwest of Guilin, Guangxi, about 80 kilometers away from downtown Guilin, 1 ~ 2 hours by car. Traveling to Guilin, which is called "the highest terrace in the world" and "one of the most beautiful terraces in China", has also attracted many tourists.

Longji Terrace has a large area, which is divided into three parts: Jinkeng Dazhai Yao Hong Terrace Scenic Area, Pinganzhuang Terrace Scenic Area and Longji Guzhuangzhai Terrace Scenic Area. There is a certain distance between several scenic spots. For those of us who travel freely, we chose the Yao Hong Terrace in Jinkeng Dazhai for a two-day and one-night in-depth tour.

To visit Yao Hongtai in Jinkeng Dazhai, you can choose to walk or take a cableway up the mountain, and the cableway can sit directly near the Jinfoding on observation deck 3. When we came to play, most tourists chose to take the cableway, but not many tourists like us chose to walk up the mountain.

In fact, a large part of the reason is that many tourists come here just for a day trip, and then rush up the mountain to punch in three viewing platforms and then return. We are going to stay in the mountain for one night, and we have plenty of time, so we thought of hiking up the mountain and taking a real original ecological hiking.

Later, it proved that our choice was quite wise, because only by hiking up the mountain can you shuttle through the original diaojiao building, feel the beautiful terraces and see the real daily life of the Hongyao people ... What you saw and heard was the biggest gain of this trip.

Terraced fields are regarded as an excellent embodiment of human wisdom. In mountainous and hilly areas lacking large-scale cultivated land, people build stepped or wavy cross-sectional farmland along contour lines, so that large-scale planting can be realized. Human farming civilization, between such square inches, supported the skeleton and lasted for thousands of years.

Longji Terrace was built in Yuan Dynasty, which has been more than 600 years. People in the mountains with a vertical drop of more than 800 meters built terraces and cultivated land, initially just to survive. Their ancestors may not have thought that hundreds of years later, this land, which has poured countless sweat, has become a beautiful landscape because of its flowing and shocking curve, attracting many tourists to explore.

Yao Hongtai in Jinkeng Dazhai has three observation decks. We live near the peak 1 observation deck, and we don't feel very tired while playing along the way.

During the two days of playing, three viewing platforms are the places where you must punch in, because this is an excellent shooting point. When terraces are stretched in layers before our eyes, their lines are flowing and their scale is magnificent. It seems that only waving our arms and shouting loudly can express our shock when we see the beautiful scenery in front of us.

Corresponding to the magnificent scenery, it is the original ecological scenery we encountered when hiking up the mountain. If you don't go in person, you may not know what kind of life the local Hongyao people live.

Yao Hong in Longsheng Autonomous County of Guilin is a branch of Yao nationality. They mainly live in the mountainous areas near Longji Town and Sishui Township in Longsheng County, and Yao Hong in Jinkeng Dazhai is one of their main gathering places.

The red Yao nationality is named after wearing red clothes. Another notable feature of them is that women in Hongyao have a tradition of long hair. Huanglong Yaozhai, the "No.1 Long Hair Village in China" under Longji Terrace, was once recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records as "the best collective long hair".

During the two-day walk on the terraced fields, we met several old ladies of Hongyao. Ask the age, several grandmothers are over 60 years old and the older ones are over 80 years old. But they are full of energy and firm skin, especially long black hair, which makes my friends and I envy two women who are going bald.

Chatting with grandma, women in Hongyao have always had a tradition of long hair. In their minds, long hair has the meaning of "enduring", symbolizing longevity and wealth. Generally speaking, women grow their hair at the age of 12 and 13, and they will cut their hair once at the age of 18, and then they will never cut their hair again until the end of their lives.

Red Yao women's hair is not only long, but also particularly black and shiny. None of the grandmothers we met had white hair. I asked the grandmothers the tips of hair care, and they all said that they often wash their hair with Taomi water and mountain spring water. I think, perhaps the natural and pollution-free natural environment here is also one of the secrets of health preservation.

When chatting with grandma, we also felt the hardships of local people's lives. Different from many commercial scenic spots, there are still a large number of indigenous people living in Longji terraces. Some yards are near scenic spots, and local hometown will open a farmhouse inn to do business and subsidize households; If the stockade is deep in a remote mountain far from the observation deck, you can only carry your own handicrafts and try your luck in the places where tourists must pass.

We walked along the path and the villagers we met were very warm and simple. At the same time, we also see that most people who stay in the mountains are old people in Yao Hong. Young people go out to work, while old people stay at home to look after the house. Compared with the bustling tourists, they still live a simple and quiet life. Living in a house with a shack, working hard in the fields, a few chickens and ducks, and a few acres of thin land may be the biggest property in the family.

There is still a simple way of working here, and bamboo rice with special cuisine is a traditional practice that has been circulating for hundreds of years. The big bamboo tube is a bamboo chicken, and the small bamboo tube is a bamboo rice. Wrap it, put it in a bamboo tube, bake it in the oven for an hour, and you can eat it. For tourists, it is a special food; For the Hongyao people who grew up in Longji terraced fields, this is the smell of fireworks for generations.

Because of the vigorous development of tourism, various tourist facilities of Longji terraced fields have been gradually improved. However, compared with the plain area, due to many restrictions such as topography, accommodation, food and other conditions are still relatively simple.

Even if you stay in a scenic hotel with better conditions, the wooden diaojiao building in the scenic spot will have problems such as poor sound insulation. This is probably the reason why Longji terraced fields are not fully commercialized!

It is also this simplicity and simplicity that let us see the original ecological real life of the local people. It may not be beautiful, but it is another primitive state. We don't know how the first ancestors of the Hongyao people who came here faced these towering mountains without natural conditions. For hundreds of years, they have combined nature and humanity perfectly with wisdom and sweat. So the Red Yao people protect this nature and naturally give them gifts. ...
