The hot weather and high temperature in midsummer make soft-shelled turtles prone to gastroenteritis. The high temperature weather has also affected the breeding of cultured soft-shelled turtles. It is suggested that the majority of soft-shelled turtle farmers should pay attention to the management of soft-shelled turtle breeding and strengthen the preventive measures of soft-shelled turtle diseases. At present, in addition to the deterioration of water quality, high stocking density or irregular specifications, improper feeding, freezing injury, sick (injured) turtles entering the pond, high temperature and summer damage, turtle diseases can also be caused. Here are six experiences of raising turtles in midsummer:
Take necessary cooling measures to ensure the normal appetite of turtles. Let the turtle live in a cool place and try to keep the water temperature in the turtle pond below 33℃. If the turtle is found to have poor appetite and emaciation, but there are no other obvious symptoms, it is necessary to consider whether it is affected by summer heat.
Feeding in summer can be done in the morning or evening after 18. The temperature in these two periods is not high, which is suitable for turtles to eat.
High temperature weather is easy to deteriorate feed (especially chilled feed), so turtle feed should be mixed now, and the remaining bait should be removed after feeding 1 hour. Turtle feed must be nutritious (it is best to combine animal feed with plant feed). On the premise of palatability, adding a small amount of antibiotics to turtle feed can effectively prevent gastrointestinal diseases of turtle.
Abuse of antibiotics and other drugs is not only harmful to the prevention and treatment of turtle diseases, but also easy to cause drug resistance of pathogens and even harm to human body. Therefore, in the prevention and treatment of turtle diseases, prevention should be given priority. In the case of symptoms, we should also control the variety and dosage of drugs to minimize the harm of antibiotics to turtles and humans.
Timely isolation of sick turtles and symptomatic treatment. The isolated sick turtle should be treated with drugs, and the treatment principle is safe and efficient. From the practical experience of the institute, it is more practical to treat some turtle diseases by combining Chinese herbal medicine with appropriate antibiotics.
