Meditations on Traditional Chinese Medicine (1, 2) was published.
Meditations on Traditional Chinese Medicine is a book compiled by former Minister of Health Cui Yueli, edited by Zhang Xiaotong and published by Hunan Science and Technology Publishing House.

This book gives a calm and profound summary and reflection on the history, present situation and future of traditional Chinese medicine since the founding of New China. The collected articles are either policy views, experience sharing or suggestions for experts.

The authors and editors of the articles in the book are all important promoters, witnesses and participants in the development of TCM, including Gan, Yu, Yu, Ji Chen Liang, Lv Bingkui, He Ren, Li Jinyong, Zhou Zhongying, Zhang Canzhen, Zhang Xuewen, Zhang Qi, Jin Shiyuan, Fei Kaiyang and Jiao Shuyuan.

Zhang Xiaotong, the editor-in-chief of this book, is Cui Yueli's son. He is currently the director of Beijing Cui Yueli Traditional Medicine Research Center and the chairman of Beijing Pingxintang Chinese Medicine Clinic. Since 1998, in accordance with the wishes of his father Cui Yueli, Zhang Xiaotong has organized the Beijing Cui Yueli Traditional Medicine Research Center and Beijing Pingxintang Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic to promote the culture of traditional Chinese medicine, devoted himself to revitalizing the cause of traditional Chinese medicine, and has unique views on the policy and development strategy of traditional Chinese medicine, and organized and published the Collection of Ancient Chinese Medicine Books.

Zhang Xiaotong said that Meditations on Traditional Chinese Medicine should have been published more than ten years ago, but it has been delayed until today for various reasons. Compared with more than ten years ago, although these manuscripts are old, they are still valuable and have many treasures worth cherishing. The problems mentioned in the manuscript article are still today's problems, and the truth spoken during it is still difficult to explain. Zhang Xiaotong felt that with the passage of time, the value of these manuscripts and articles did not fade, on the contrary, they showed more foresight, wisdom, keenness and profundity. Some articles are worth understanding repeatedly, and some can be included in the literature, which is worth long-term preservation.

The history of the intersection of Chinese and western medicine is not long. Western medicine entered China from 1835, and it has been less than 200 years. Compared with the long history of Chinese medicine of more than 2,000 years, it is indeed limited. But it is in these limited years that the fate of TCM has undergone earth-shaking changes. Western medicine is booming, but Chinese medicine is declining. Zhang Xiaotong said that his father Cui Yueli attached great importance to the research of soft science and development strategy of traditional Chinese medicine, and it was under his direct concern and planning that he published the first episode of Meditations on Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Zhang Xiaotong appealed that the revitalization of Chinese medicine depends on the joint efforts of all, and every Chinese medicine practitioner can clearly shoulder his own responsibilities side by side. This is the real hope for the revitalization of Chinese medicine and the bright future of Chinese medicine.
