Urgent? How to raise newborn turtles?
Mississippi map turtle (details)

Newborn small water turtles are usually called baby turtles. In the larval stage, the carapace is still soft and the resistance is poor. It is necessary to ensure the sanitation of the environment to ensure the health of young turtles. It needs to be heated and disinfected if necessary. Let's talk about how to raise the newly hatched small water turtle.

First, the feeding and nursing principles of young turtles

First, do a good job of cleaning and hygiene to prevent turtles from getting sick.

Second, control the appropriate temperature and humidity to facilitate its normal growth.

Thirdly, the young turtles gradually adapt to the external environment and feed on their own.

Second, the breeding method of young turtles

1. Put the newly hatched turtle in a small glass box and let it crawl for 3~5 hours. After the umbilical cord of the young turtle is dried and converged, it is soaked in 0.6% normal saline for a while and disinfected.

2. Then put it into an indoor glass box or wooden basin for culture. Never use your hands to break the umbilical cord of the young turtle, which will cause casualties of the young turtle.

3. Change the water 1~2 times a day in the young turtle breeding box, and strictly control the water temperature at 25~30 degrees Celsius. When the weather is hot, it is necessary to spray water into the breeding box many times to adjust the temperature and increase the oxygen in the water, so that the young turtles can grow normally under suitable conditions.

4. Young turtles that have just hatched 1~2 days don't need to be fed. After 2 days, feed a small amount of grain feed, and then feed a small amount of mixed feed such as boiled eggs, fish and shrimp, frog meat, pumpkin and sweet potato. After 7 days' rearing, the young turtles are strong and can be transferred to outdoor breeding ponds for breeding.

Third, the feeding method of young turtles.

At present, most young turtles are raised by heating. When the water temperature drops to 15℃ in June every year, it is 45438+00, which can transfer about 15g of soft-shelled turtle to a heating room. The heating mode can be hot spring water, factory surplus hot water or boiler heating. The water temperature is preferably controlled at 28℃~30℃. The size, shape and heating equipment of the culture pond can refer to the turtle heating culture equipment, but more rest tables should be set up.

The stocking density of young turtles is generally around 30 /m2. It is best to use compound feed, the protein content should be about 40%, and the daily feeding amount should be about 3% ~ 5%. Feed should often be mixed with some green materials of melons and leafy vegetables, which can be ground or squeezed into juice. At the same time, we should regularly add some oral drugs to prevent diseases, and feed them once every morning at 8-9 am and 4-5 pm, and the amount of each feeding is subject to satiety and no leftovers.

When young turtles are heated, they need to change water every three to five days. Before injecting new water, the bait left at the bottom of the pond should be removed to keep the water clean. When changing water every time, the temperature difference between inlet and outlet is generally less than 3℃, and the water exchange amount is 1/3 of the total water body. If the whole pool is changed with water, the bottom of the pool should be washed dry. Sprinkle quicklime water all over the pool every week and disinfect it regularly to improve water quality, sterilize and prevent diseases.

Four, young turtle feeding container

Young turtles can be kept in flat-bottomed containers without any difficulty. Plastic pots, plastic jars, glass jars or boxes, and aquariums are all suitable. The water should not be too deep, the depth is suitable for them to swim. An ideal nursery must have some specific minimum elements. Each young turtle should have five liters of water, and the water depth should not exceed the length of the turtle, so that the turtle can support its feet when breathing on the water. At the same time, they must be made of bricks and stones, or buy a terrace so that turtles can bask in the sun on their backs.

Floating islands are not suitable, because young turtles often can't climb up and waste energy. At present, the resin floor on the market is a good choice, and heavy wood is also a good natural land. On the other hand, we should also pay attention to islands and decorations not to become dangerous obstacles, which will jam the turtle and drown it.

Little turtles can be kept on the balcony all summer. In order to prevent birds from taking it away, you can cover the box with a net. It is absolutely necessary to prevent young turtles from climbing out of the breeding box. The connection of the electric heater may even be a bridge for the young turtle to escape, because the young turtle's "climbing skills" are very clever. If algae, such as moss, grow on the culture box, that's fine, but it can't make the water in the box stink.

Many small turtles sold in the market are small turtles born not long ago. After the owner buys it, he should raise it carefully.
