Is my situation a floater? Is it serious?
Floaters:

Seeing the black spots flying around in front of you is like the name of a floater. When opaque objects in the vitreous body are projected onto the retina, floaters will occur. It is more obvious in strong light or white background. Sensitive people can even describe their various shapes. Many floaters exist for a long time, unchanged all the year round, without affecting vision, and there is no eye organ lesion after examination, which is of little clinical significance, so don't worry. Some elderly people suddenly have one or two dark shadows in front of their eyes without other symptoms, often due to the detachment of the posterior limiting membrane of vitreous body, which is generally harmless. However, if a large number of black spots suddenly appear, we should think of retinal vascular rupture or retinal hole formation, which may be a precursor of retinal detachment, and further detailed examination of the fundus is needed. Many similar cells or exudates can enter the vitreous body during choroiditis, which is also a common cause of pathological floaters, but it is often difficult to detect because of impaired vision. Floaters felt by myopia patients are often related to liquefaction and degeneration of vitreous body.

Floaters are generally caused by vitreous degeneration, which is a natural aging phenomenon, that is, with aging, the glass will "liquefy" and produce some turbidity. Therefore, the official name of floaters is "vitreous disorder" or "vitreous floater".

The symptoms of floaters are: black spots will appear in front of the patient's eyes and fly around with the rotation of the eyeball. Like floaters, the shapes are round, oval, dotted and linear. It is common that patients are more likely to find it when they look at bright backgrounds such as blue sky and white walls.

Floaters mostly occur in middle-aged and elderly people over 40 years old, patients with high myopia and people who have undergone cataract surgery. Others, such as eye inflammation or retinopathy, can also form this disease. Most floaters are benign, or "physiological floaters", which is characterized in that if the patient has floaters in both eyes, it is impossible to determine which eye has floaters. If these phenomena do not worsen or change after a period of time, and the position of floaters is fixed, it is mostly benign.

On the contrary, if the phenomenon of floaters suddenly appears and is limited to one eye, the direction of mosquitoes flying is uncertain, the dark shadow covers the field of vision, and the vision is poor and the field of vision is defective, all of which are ominous signs that must be paid attention to.

The following summarizes several dangerous symptoms of floaters:

(1) has abnormal flash.

(2) Floaters increased in a short time.

(3) the vision is blocked.

Because a few floaters are signs of serious diseases, experts believe that if floaters are found dancing in groups in front of them, they should first have an expert examination. After the examination, if there are serious eye diseases, it is necessary to treat them.

But the result of the inspection does not mean that there will never be a problem. Once there is a flash, floaters suddenly increase, or the line of sight is blocked, it is necessary to conduct a detailed inspection immediately.

Floaters refer to small shadows fluttering in front of your eyes, especially when you look at a bright white background, which may be accompanied by a sense of flash. Vitreous liquefaction and posterior dislocation are the main causes of floaters. 70% of patients are caused by this, but14 patients may have diseases that threaten vision, among which retinal breaks are the main ones. When you see floaters, you should carefully check whether there is mydriasis in the fundus, including slit lamp three-sided mirror examination. Only those with posterior vitreous detachment do not need special treatment, and lesions harmful to vision are treated according to relevant principles.

Floaters caused by eye inflammation feel that the black shadows in front of them are mostly dusty or flocculent, which may affect vision to varying degrees. Under the ophthalmoscope, there are dust and flocculent floating objects in the vitreous body, and the slit lamp three-sided mirror can show exudation caused by inflammation of the central choroid and white sheath of blood vessels.

Floaters caused by intraocular hemorrhage feel that black shadows move like smoke clouds or flow like ink, and some have red or orange floating objects. Under the ophthalmoscope or slit lamp, we can see flaky, flocculent and massive hemorrhage with different thickness in the vitreous body, and we can also see the primary retinal diseases that cause hemorrhage. Hemorrhage caused by posterior vitreous detachment from traction vessels is often accompanied by retinal breaks, which should be paid attention to.

If it is floaters without pathological changes, it is recommended to see Chinese medicine, and the curative effect of Chinese medicine cannot be ignored.

Diagnosis and treatment of floaters in traditional Chinese medicine

People are over middle age, and many people are troubled by floaters. Floaters, also known as "cloud moving eyes", are a common eye disease. Floaters are also found in Japan and the west [1].

1 Diagnosis of floaters

1. 1 clinical symptoms [2,3]

Some people go to the ophthalmology department to see a doctor, claiming that they often see black spots shaking in front of their eyes, sometimes passing by, and sometimes gathering together. The shape also changes from time to time. When patients look at bright backgrounds such as blue sky and white walls, it is easier to find its existence. Because the characteristic of this disease is that the black spots in front of the patient will fly around with the rotation of the eyeball, and they can't be caught or hit, just like floaters, which is called floaters in medicine.
