Kongtong, a mountain name, is in Gansu. It is also the name of the island, in Shandong.

Kongtong Mountain, located in Pingliang City, Gansu Province, is the fortress of the Western Silk Road. Since ancient times, it has been called "the first Taoist mountain in China". It is connected with Liupanshan in the west, Qinchuan Mountain in the east, Guanshan Mountain in the south, Xiaoguanshan Mountain in the north, Jinghe River and Rouge River in the north and south, and meet in front of Wangjiashan. The elevation is between1456-2123.5m, the vertical height is 667.5m, the elevation of the main peak is 2123m, and the forest coverage rate is 95%.

According to legend, the Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan Huangdi, who was revered as the ancestor of human beings, visited Kongtong Mountain in person and asked the wise men for advice on how to govern the country and how to keep in good health. Qin Huang and Hanwu are also respected; Scholars such as Sima Qian, Du Fu, Bai Juyi, Zhao Shichun, Lin Zexu and Tan Sitong have many praises. Kongtong Wushu is known as one of the five martial arts schools in China.

Since 1994, Kongtong Mountain has successively won the titles of national key scenic spots, the first batch of 5A-level scenic spots, national geological parks, national nature reserves, "Top Ten Influential Brands in China Tourism Industry", "China Tourism Culture Demonstration Site", "Top Ten Taoist Cultural Tourism Resorts in China" and "Top Ten Most Beautiful Religious Famous Mountains in China".

After the resumption of operation, the scenic spot will be open to all medical staff in the country free of charge until the end of 2020.

Kongtong Mountain is located in the western suburb of Kongtong District, Pingliang City, Gansu Province 15km. It starts from Erdaogou, Huapaoling and Liushugou in Jinghe area of Taitong Mountain in the east, reaches Jingyuan County in Ningxia in the west, reaches Dayinshan and Shiwangou in the south, and reaches Daxiangshan in the north, with a total area of 83.6 square kilometers, and the main peak is 2 123.3 meters above sea level.

There are trilobites, graptolites and other paleontological fossils found in this area, which are influenced by external dynamics such as differential weathering, water erosion and collapse, forming unique Danxia landforms and geological structure relics such as Shizhu Peak Forest on the Loess Plateau, which have extremely high ornamental value and important scientific research value.
