Coptidis Rhizoma is the dried rhizome of Coptidis Rhizoma, Coptidis Rhizoma or Coptidis Rhizoma. Has that effect of clearing away heat, eliminate dampness, purging fire and removing toxic materials. Indications: Damp-heat fullness, vomiting and acid swallowing, damp-heat diarrhea, high fever and dizziness, insomnia, blood-heat vomiting, carbuncle and furuncle, toothache with red eyes, thirst-quenching, eczema, wet sore, and ear canal pus.

It is also a medicine blindly used by Zhang Zhongjing, a medical saint. Now, we introduce six Xiexin Decoction containing 14 classic prescriptions of Rhizoma Coptidis.

1. Xiexin decoction

Composition: rhubarb 10g, coptis root and scutellaria root 5g each. Apply three medicines, take 800 ml of water, boil 250 ml, and take it immediately.

Indications: purging fire and detoxifying, eliminating dampness and clearing heat. Treat pathogenic fire, forced blood rash, hematemesis, epistaxis, constipation and red eyes; Heat accumulated in triple energizer, red eyes, swelling and pain, sores on mouth and tongue, superficial sores, chest tightness and constipation; Damp-heat jaundice, chest tightness, yellow and greasy tongue coating and firm pulse.

2. Fuzi Xiexin Decoction:

Composition: Radix et Rhizoma Rhei 12g, Rhizoma Coptidis 6g, Scutellariae Radix 6g, Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata 10g (processed, without boiling juice), four flavors taken and three flavors cut. Soak in 400 ml of hemp boiling soup, wring it out for a while, and take aconite juice at different temperatures.

Indications: Warming meridians to restore yang, clearing away heat and reducing swelling. Treat yang deficiency and stomach heat. The heart is full, but the aversion to cold and sweating is repeated.

3. Glycyrrhiza Xiexin Decoction:

Composition: Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch 12g (stir-fried), Scutellariae Radix 9g, Zingiberis Rhizoma 9g, Pinellia ternata 9g (washed), Jujube 12g (crushed) and Coptidis Rhizoma 3g. Add six flavors, take 2 liters of water, boil 1.2 liters, and fry 600 ml. Three times a day, 200 ml each time, warm clothes.

Indications: Supplementing qi and regulating stomach, reducing swelling and stopping vomiting. Treating typhoid stroke, the doctor did the opposite, resulting in weak stomach qi, physical decline for dozens of days, uncooled grains, thunder in the abdomen, hard and full heart, and retching.

4. Dahuang Huanglian Xiexin Decoction:

Composition: 6 grams of rhubarb and 3 grams of coptis. There are two flavors available. Soak in 200 ml of hemp boiling soup, wring it out for a moment and take it twice.

Indications: bloating of the heart and closed and floating pulse.

5. Banxia Xiexin Decoction:

Composition: Pinellia ternata 12g (washed), Scutellariae Radix, Zingiberis Rhizoma, Ginseng Radix and Glycyrrhizae Radix (fried), 9g each, 3g Coptidis Rhizoma, and 0/2g Jujube/kloc (crushed). Seven flavors, 1 liter of water, 600 ml of boiling, and then 300 ml of frying, taken twice.

Indications: regulating stomach, lowering adverse flow, dispersing stagnation and reducing swelling. The main cold and heat are blocked in the middle, the stomach and qi are not harmonious, the heart is full and painless, or retching, or vomiting, intestinal diarrhea, thin yellow and greasy tongue coating, and rapid pulse.

6. Ginger Xiexin Decoction

Composition: ginger 12g (cut), licorice 9g (fried), ginseng 9g, dried ginger 3g, scutellaria 9g, Pinellia 9g (washed), coptis 3g, jujube 12g (crushed). Add eight flavors, add 2 liters of water, boil 1.2 liters, and fry 600 ml. Take 200 ml warm clothes each time, three times a day.

Indications: regulating stomach, relieving swelling, dispersing stagnation and promoting diuresis. The heat of controlling water is intertwined, and the stomach is not harmonious and the heart is hard. Dry food stinks, and thunder and profit are in the belly.
