Does Taoism advocate vegetarianism?
Taoism really advocates vegetarianism.

Taoism does have a tradition of advocating vegetarianism since ancient times. There may be two reasons for this:

First of all, Taoist cultivation emphasizes the promotion of mortals to immortals through the dual cultivation of life. Huang Tingjing said that "heaven and man are connected, indifferent and tasteless", while Taoism pays attention to "Taoism is natural". Everything in the world is endowed by heaven and earth. No matter birds flying in the sky, fish and shrimp swimming in the water, animals walking on land, even ants and insects, even plants, flowers and trees, no matter how big or small, are all a life. Monks should have a caring attitude and cherish it. We should have a sense of concern. According to this idea, people's diet should be "indifferent and tasteless" and not destroy the harmony of nature. "Tai Shang Induction" says: accumulate merits and be kind to things; Loyalty, filial piety, friendship and self-improvement; ..... Cordyceps wood, still can't hurt;

Secondly, there is another reason why Taoism advocates vegetarianism, because it is clearly stipulated in the relevant precepts of Taoism. For example, the "One Hundred and Eighty Commandments" mentioned by Lao Jun said: "Don't kill", "Don't fish and hunt to harm all beings", "Don't dig insects and artifacts in winter" and "Don't go up trees to explore the nest and break eggs". God has the virtue of loving life and hating killing. God breeds everything, loves its life and hates its death. Taoist people should observe the heart of heaven and earth, so they should take killing as a warning. If you don't kill, the best way is to be vegetarian.
