After food enters the stomach, gastric juice begins to secrete. But when you see food or smell its fragrance and think of delicious food, it will also be secreted.
Secretion is caused by gastric glands located in mucosa. The main components of gastric juice are hydrochloric acid, pepsin and mucus. Hydrochloric acid can convert pepsinogen into pepsin, which has bactericidal ability. Pepsin can decompose (digest) protein in food to form peptone. Mucus covers the mucosal surface of the stomach to protect the mucosa from various stimuli.
