What happened to the beautiful purple casserole?
I simply tell you: the beautiful purple casserole is not purple sand, but the ceramic factory dipped a layer of "glaze water" in the inner container before firing, making it look more like the color of purple sand. This "glaze water" may also contain harmful ingredients.

Midea said in the product brochure that Midea's purple clay pot liner is called "Zijin Huo Feng liner", which is "all made of pure purple clay". After careful observation, the reporter found that the shiny purple clay pot liner not only has peeling marks on the surface, but also has a great difference in internal and external colors after being damaged, which is not what the manufacturer said.

Chemical raw materials such as manganese dioxide should be added in the production of "purple sand" liner.

CCTV: In the process of making purple clay liner with red clay, the manufacturer added iron red powder, manganese dioxide and other chemicals many times.

Electrical appliance manufacturer: the inner container of teapot is made of pure purple sand.

According to CCTV's Weekly Quality Report, in recent years, purple clay pot has become a star product in the cookware market, and its sales volume has also increased year by year. Consumers' choice of teapot is nothing more than the concept of health, nutrition, health preservation and so on declared by merchants. However, during the investigation, the reporter found that there is another mystery behind this purple clay pot with health signs.

It is understood that purple sand was formed hundreds of millions of years ago and is a special clay rich in iron. Compared with ordinary clay, purple sand has good air permeability and unique air permeability and water impermeability. It was used to make teapots and other tea sets hundreds of years ago.

In order to attract customers, some well-known manufacturers have put up signs of "natural purple sand", "iron-rich purple sand" and "health purple sand".

Reporters in Beijing and other large and medium-sized cities found that teapot is very popular, and many well-known supermarkets and electrical shopping malls have sales counters.

Midea said in the product brochure that the inner container of Midea's purple casserole is called "Zijin Huo Feng inner container", "all made of pure purple sand" and "rich in trace elements, which is beneficial to health". And "it's the same inside, it's good from the inside out."

After careful observation, the reporter found that the purple clay pot liner with bright appearance not only has traces of falling off on the surface, but also has great differences in internal and external colors exposed after being damaged, which is not what the manufacturer said.

Reporter's investigation: the raw material mud of the inner container is actually farmland red soil.

So what's the secret behind this duplicity? According to the address on the product packaging, the reporter went to the manufacturer for further investigation.

Guangdong Midea Life Electric Appliance Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is located in Shunde District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. The company's raw material warehouse stores a large number of containers for processing teapots, and the words "Cathay Pacific Turnover Box" and "Jin Hang Turnover Box" are printed on the boxes of these containers.

Guotai Porcelain Industry Co., Ltd. is located in Xupu County, Huaihua City, Hunan Province, and is a large ceramic factory. Manager Li, who is in charge of Guangdong's regional business, said that their factory is a supplier of Midea's purple clay pot liner.

In the production workshop, the reporter witnessed the processing process of this kind of liner: only pieces of raw material mud were put into the mold for stamping, and the molded liner was dried and fired to become the finished product.

There are several kinds of mud materials piled up in the mud making workshop, including Guangdong mud and Yunnan mud. Manager Li admits that the raw mud for lining production in their factory is made of these foreign mud materials.

In another batching workshop, the reporter also found some chemical raw materials such as "iron red powder". "Iron red powder", also called iron oxide, is a chemical colorant. The person in charge of the mud-making workshop admitted frankly that in order to make these ordinary foreign mud materials more like purple sand, chemical raw materials had to be added for color enhancement.

In Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province, the reporter found Jin Hang Ceramic Industry Co., Ltd., and the person in charge of this company said that their factory is another supplier of Midea's purple clay pot liner. However, the raw mud used in this kind of liner is not produced by their own factory, but bought from Chaozhou Shuye Ceramic Raw Material Factory.

Subsequently, the reporter found this ceramic raw material factory, where thousands of tons of mud were piled up. In the subsequent investigation, the reporter found that this factory not only used these ordinary clays, but also added manganese dioxide to process the original mud of the liner. Manganese dioxide is a black chemical pigment. Workers revealed that this is an essential thing for processing the original mud of the liner.

In fact, the so-called "all made of pure purple sand" liner of Midea teapot is mainly provided by Cathay Pacific and Jin Hang. The raw material mud used in these liners is actually made of a variety of common clays such as field soil, red soil, black mud and white mud, and dyed with chemical raw materials such as "iron red powder" and manganese dioxide, which is not the advertised "pure purple sand".

Gasket manufacturer:

Color matching of chemical raw materials

The reporter learned through investigation that the gallbladder of this teapot comes from Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, which enjoys the reputation of "porcelain capital". Here, there are more than a dozen ceramic factories specializing in the processing of so-called teapot liners. The price of each piece ranges from several yuan to more than ten yuan, and hundreds of thousands of pieces are produced every day.

These factories all have the same process when processing the liner, that is, dipping the molded liner in different colors such as red, extra red and purple black.

It turns out that the raw mud used in this so-called purple sand liner is not pure purple sand, and the real purple sand cannot be fired after processing and molding, so the liner has to be dipped in a layer of "glaze water" for color matching before firing, so that the fired liner looks more like the color of purple sand.

This kind of "glaze water" specially used for color matching is generally provided by the mud factory that processes the raw material mud of the liner. In the "glaze water" preparation area of Chaozhou Xitang laterite factory, the reporter saw a large number of chemical raw materials, including iron red powder, nickel oxide and manganese dioxide. The director admitted that these chemical raw materials were used to prepare glaze water.

At this point in the investigation, the truth finally came out.
